Just got this via email.
Subject: The German....

Turn the sound up high to enjoy the Merlin, then watch until the end. The story has a real sting in its tail.

Watch to the end.

I never knew about the information at the end of the film? Be sure to watch to the end. Incredible four-minute footage of a desperate Spitfire vs. ME-109 dual. You feel like you are there! Amazing computer work blended in with real photography. Also an interesting factual story that many did not know. History is rarely 'over'. Now sit back and strap on your parachute harness ..... it is the Summer of 1940 over the skies of England . Listen to the perfect 'purr' of the Rolls Royce Merlin ... Watch this full screen. It's very well done. Click on the link below: http://player.vimeo.com/video/31202906?autoplay=1 The German

I have it on DVD now - but used to have it on VHS. If you still have a VHS player, PM me and I'll pop it in the post.

mmm.... given the limited combat radius of the Me109 operating out of NW France - allowing no more than 20mins dogfighting over SE England - it seems highly implausible that one would be capable of crossing the entire breadth of England and Wales, let alone then managing to cross the Irish Sea!! Oi tink dis one kissed t' Blarney Stone to be sure!

'Dark Blue World' yes excellent.. and 'Piece of Cake' too

Reading the comments on the site where the film was posted, it appears that the makers took great liberties as far as "realism" is concerned - but I think justify it, saying that often "fiction" can tell a story better than "documentary". I agree. They specifically made the squadron fictional - so as not to offend any real, historical, squadron with their "poetic licence".

Looking at the linked CGI site, it also appears that all the effects (ie. 90% of the film) were done for no money at all! How on earth did they do that, I wonder!??

Following one of the other links - an *animated* version (by someone else) of a similar story is in the works. Looks surprisingly good, too!
