Computer pilot magazine

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Is the Computer Pilot magazine still being produced?
I placed a subscription with them ages ago and have yet to receive one magazine. The website seems functional and it will certainly take your money, but I cannot access any of the latest online magazines. What is available is very dated.
I have emailed their support department twice but have yet to get any reply.

Remember the 50-50-90 rule. Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong!

Person to ask and may sort it out for you directly would Dean at PC Aviator- I use to get mag from there years back, or least I'm sure it was from the vendor.

I gather it is. It doesn't come out of Melbourne now. It's been sold to an American company. I got it for a few years on subscription when it came from Melbourne, but when it changed over I had a bit of a job changing it to the American company. In April 2013 I purchased a years sub from this new company. I think it cost me about $54. I purchased it on line through their website. I've still got the internet receipt, but I never received any copies of the mag. I e-mailed them time and time again but never got a reply. I've just given up. I recommend, be very careful. If you can find a bookshop which sells it, get it from there. By the way, it was a great mag. I enjoyed reading it.

PC Aviator sold the magazine to a European Company (Maui) back in 2011. We have not published, printed or produced the magazine, or managed any subscriptions since the magazine was sold.

Unfortunately the new publisher was only able to produce and print one issue of the magazine several years ago, and nothing since. A real shame in fact.

You should seek a refund from the publisher, if at all possible since you have not been provided with the product you have paid for.

If what you say is correct Dean then the company now calling itself Computer Pilot is a scam. The merchandising (subscription) side of the site is still alive and well. The magazine part (hard copy and online) is not.
They got my money. A shame really as it was a great magazine.

Thanks for that reply Dean it was interesting. Arguing with a printing company in some foreign European country, from NZ is probably near impossible. I guess I'll just have to cut my loses. I agree with you Cowpatz, it's become a scam and it appears we both got sucked in. I would hasit a guess and say we're not the only ones.

I wonder if a forum such as Avsim or Flightsim would be interested in hearing this. It may get a reaction from the morons who are ripping us off.

I used to gt this regularly on subscription but once it changed hands I only ever got 1 more copy. I wrote them off as a bad loss and now I buy PCPilot from the local magazine store on a bi-monthly or monthly basis. A lot of the articles I noticed were very similar to the Computer Pilot ones and I think PC Pilot is a better mag anyway. $20 a copy but that's the price of our addiction.

yeah, but $20 cash every now and then goes unnoticed by she who must be obeyed - $130 lump sum pulls up red flags. wink.gif

Bruce, that discussion has been had several times in the past on several forums. Didn't seem to make a difference.

Can't say I have heard of this mag but I get PC Pilot on subscription from the UK and that is incredible value for money, if you aren't familiar with it, check it out on line

I just love your reply Towerguy and sympathise, I am now fortunate where my wife is sympathetic to my addiction (lesser of other evils I suppose)
