Errors after loading FSX Steam

Postby buzzard2008 » Sat Nov 05, 2016 9:42 am

Heya guys I seem to be having a problem with 3 errors after downloading Steam I have done a re-install to see if that fixed the problem but to no avail. They keep coming up after Ive launched FSX and every single time It asks me if I would like to run this page without script? There are 3 of them pictured here, For now I just click yes yes and yes then she starts up.Wouldnt have a clue in hell what it means, all I know is Ive just had a system overhall, I now have an Intel(R)Core(TM) i76700@3.40GHz HT enabled(shows 8 threads anyway) 8 GB of DDR4 Ram GTX750Ti card and FSX is installed on a 1TB SDD Sata drive and I am STILL having problems with bloody stuttering excuse my Spanish. This really shouldnt be happening on a rig like this, gee Dovetail hurry up and release your 64bit sim!!! I am wondering if these errors are causing problems in the sim and how can I repair them? Also after re-install all my scenery is still in the scenery library??? I have to click off about 30 odd "cant find scenery errors before starting, I know I can delete them but they shouldnt still be there in the first place should they? Man, may have to go back to FSX boxed

And finally a pic of my scenery still in the library

Im wondering, do I have to google the URL shown in each error box to find a solution? buggered if I know, anyone else had these errors and removed them? Some help would be much appreciated, cheers in advance guys!

Not too sure, Buzz, but I wonder if it is a problem with the Visual C+ runtimes? From a quick google, it seems that FSX-se should update these to 2013 (from 2005 for FSX boxed) but maybe there's an issue with your update.

You could try downloading and reinstalling the Visual C+ runtime libraries.

Heya Rob yes I've been googling as well lol, I noticed in my first download after I went into the visual c++ files they were all empty, so I freshly downloaded the 2015 version after second install, I also noted that when I went to the start menu to search, there was no visual anything in the drop box so I went to my recent download and tried to install it but came up with a download fail? My computer doesn't like it for some reason

Buzz , I was fortunate to have P3D handed to me by the 'Dynamic Duo' Greg and Marty, so FSX Steam went out the window, my boxed FSX works perfectly fine, always treated with 'kids gloves' entire package still looks brand new. .... No you can't have it :)

Unable to see and tell from your screen shots if you actually have the Steam program Steam.exe installed ?

It is recommended that you run FSX SE game simulator from within Steam once you setup a Steam Account by clicking on the Play button in Steam rather than simply clicking on the FSX.exe desktop shortcut icon.

Recommend for those who have the FSX SE Steam version to please check out.

Cheers Radar I wasn't aware of having to start it up in Steam, I decided to Uninstaller Steam before I got your message, I tried to reinstall Fsx boxed but was having all sorts of trouble with loading scenery and now my computer doesn't seem to wanna play disk 1 so in the end I just gave up then tried to install flightschool but as soon as it reaches 97% it just sits there, aaahhhgggrrrr not my day for Simmons so I've found my download purchase of prepar3d v2.5 so I'm gonna have a go at installing that, and if I have any trouble with that I'm going to start hitting things lol

BUZZ , It is the 3.4 Academic version, I can build on it as long as it is freeware only, I did get the STEAM , but never opened 'Pandora's Box' , I'm still learning bits and pieces ... One thing I said to Greg, its the first time and finally the graphics card is doing its job .. again results are outstanding !

Sounds good Ian I'm losin what's left of me hair here, lol hope 2.5 goes ok, my other system did not like it at all but my new setup remains to be seen, I understand most of the changes made since 2.5 have not been graphical and scenery wise? More for the serious simmer where realism is more required?

Hey Buzz sounds like you've managed to screw and corrupt the Registry keys for FSX if you've been going through and doing lots of uninstalling and re-installing of FSX. That's if you have previously had a Boxed CD version installed on either the same or a different drive.

Recommend doing an uninstall 1st then go through and do a registry clean up then Restart your PC before either a fresh clean install or re-install.

You will need download and get a freeware Registry Cleaner, you can take your pick and choose from various Flight Sim websites

Such as TweakFS

http://www.tweakfs.com/store/free_tools.php

Download the file FSX Registry Utility for the fsx_reg_utility.zip

Use this link for a guide

http://fsrijnmond.airworld.nl/FSX%20Ste ... FSX-SE.pdf

Or you could try Flight1 freeware FSX/FS9 Registry Repair Tool

http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library

Install or run these as the administrator of your PC to fully clean up the specific FSX Registry setting keys.

Then you should be able to do a fresh clean install of the Steam FSX SE

If you're going to install FSX SE then check after the uninstalling FSX the Boxed CD version and make sure in your Windows Explorer that their is no C: Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\FSX

My FSX SE is now install on a separate a 1TB SSD, I went through several uninstall and re-installs after having the previous CD Boxed version installed on the C: I managed through trial and error and got it sorted in the end.

Drive Path should look something like F: Steam\Steamapps\common\FSX

You may also need to check the C:\Users\Your name\Appdata\local

Check that their is no FSX directory here it may be left over after doing an uninstall of the boxed version of FSX.

The Appdata folder is a hidden folder so you will need to unhide the subdirectory folders underneath to be able to see and delete the FSX folder of the boxed version if it's still showing up. The Registry may be still pointing to this invalid directory if it's not cleaned up after doing the uninstall.

Any installers for re-installing Addon Scenery or Aircraft Sim Objects will need to be manually changed with a typed entry to point toward the new Drive Letter pathname installation eg F:\Steam\Steamapps\common\FSX

Hi Folks

BUZZ-
DO NOT UNINSTALL ANYTHING !

Those errors are nothing whatsoever to do with
any of FSX, STEAM, Visual C+ runtimes, registry keys, the moon being in virgo, the price of fish etc.

FSX's 'home' tab is an online web page.

That webpage is fsxinsider.com, (owned by Microsoft).
which redirects to fsxworld.com, (now owned by Dovetail).

If you've been prompted and blocked a script,
dependencies will cascade failures on that webpage.

Workaround -
Just click on any of FSX's other tabs,
those are not online web pages.

Heya BASys, my man you are too late I'm affraid. Ive deleted anything to do with Steam, FSX Steam Edition, Boxed FSX and Prepar3d v2.5 After Trying to download Orbx NZNI into Steam and being told it couldnt find the simulator, then finding the exe, then being told that it still wont work because of some other issue Ive decided to step down from simming for now until DTG bring out their latest. With a new setup, Ive never had so many issues before, If they plan on making future simming user friendly then they have a long way to go in my opinion.Steam has to be one of the most frustrating websites to get around. Ive been at it for five odd years now and have had some fun but am sick of being plagued by constant issues, errors, graphics, scenery,, anti ailiasing, stuttering, blurries you name it. I almost feel like Ive waisted 1100 bucks. I can do without the aggrivation. I even tried to re-install Flightschool just to have something to muck around with, it got to 95% then just sat and sat and sat there till I couldnt be bothered with it any more. Im over it for now but will still be checking in and hey thanks guys for all your help, happy simming everyone

BUZZ now you have deleted everything , I'm not sure how many HD's you have , but if you know your details for anything outside, you could reformat your FSX-FS HD , even if it is your OS PC , a complete clean and re-install .

Maybe look at P3D .. but then I don't want to lead you into another hornets of problems , as mentioned it dose have its amazing results compared so my STEAM , was only $5 is shelved , ... take a few days off to think about direction and then go from there , there is a lot of nice new photo-real freeware scenery incoming ... maybe an incentive :)
