Microsoft Rewards

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Microsoft Rewards

I saw a post on this over at the MSFS forum, someone had redeemed their rewards for Microsoft gift cards. I checked this out, and it seems I could get $10 off MSFS2024 if I redeem what I have -- not bad for something I knew nothing about. So go to Bing.com and check to see if you have any rewards!

When I posted this, I thought I'd try for another $5, which I think I'll manage, but it is a bit of a commitment -- 20 minutes each day, at least. Now I've started, I'm determined to finish, but I doubt it's worth the trouble:) Kind of like flybuys for simmers.

Mmm I am owned by Google.
I only have 72 Bing points.
This will not go very far, I see points are measured in thousands.
I will fight fire with fire.
I am going to build a squadron of bots using generative AI, to carry out 5,184,000 searches a day, and also do "streaks".
Then, I will be rewarded.

Yes, you can only sell your soul once, and mine belongs to Microsoft. This goes back to the time they flew me to Sydney, picked me up in a limo and took me to the hotel with a bunch of 'MVPs' -- ordinary folk like me -- and looked after us very well while asking us how to deal with their user base, without being inundated with garbage. I do think that the way that MS handle their flight sim, with Jorg doing his bit from the top down, is a direct result of these talks.

So I haven't 'googled' for a long time, although I refuse to say I've 'Binged' today.

I still have my old Windows phones, including the Microsoft-branded one, when they bought and subsequently destroyed Nokia. I loved my Windows phones. The fact that I now use a google phone fills me with sadness. But hey, at least I don't have an iphone....

At the moment I'm getting about 145 points a day, so in the 50 days until MSFS2024 I can earn at least 7200 points. A $5 voucher costs 3,610 points (at the level I'm on), so with the points I already have, I can earn another $10 before then. Woohoo.

Here's a typical Bing search today -- 'how many people live at Scott Base' -- 86, apparently. My ex-wife's sister has just started work there, and sent some photos, I can just make out her ice-laden eyelashes among all those layers. It looks cold. Here we have spring, 17 degrees today, I prefer my life.
