NZFF Get-Together & Show And Tell

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Postby don66 » Thu Jun 11, 2009 4:36 pm

I have the opportunity to hire a room in central Lower Hutt that would be very suitable for a "Get Together & Show And Tell" if there is sufficient interest among NZFF members.

The event is for NZFF members and their guests - it will be small and low key. The event will not be publicised other than here. Casual visitors will be welcome.

The room is large enough to accommodate 20 "hangars" round its walls.
Each "hangar" can contain 2 tables, 3 chairs, power & internet access.

What would you like to see and do?

What can you do to contribute?

Can you bring your computer and kit?

If your airline has a uniform then it (or part of it) should be worn.

Name badges will be available for you to complete and wear (recommended).

You will be responsible for your own personal and equipment safety and security.

Recommended Date:
Sunday 16th August (the Wellington Phoenix v Perth Glory game is at 5pm to 7pm if you're interested)

Perhaps a 10am to 5pm timeframe.

Can you demo aircraft paints, scenery, multi-player, GPS tutorial, talk about the FS Community in NZ & world-wide, your photos, memorabilia, trade/swap, etc

Depending on your response, a possible Programme could be:

10am to 1pm = setup, meet & greet, skite
1pm to = "Fly Past" - individuals in turn do demos and tutorials and skills -say 15mins each

I will be able to get a sponsor to cover the cost of the venue and other expenses. There is no cost for you to attend.

Anyone interested? What can you do to contribute? More ideas please.
Please refer this to other members in case they miss this.
If there is sufficient interest then I'll prepare a programme - shall we say please post your thoughts here by 30th June 2009.

Chocks away

What a good opportunity! We can put faces to names at least! I would be very interested, as I'm looking for a software developing project, and I'd like to ask the guys, what kind of add on would be needed for both fs2004 and fsx. I know, I know.... There is a lot of them out there, however I'm happy to write a unique, specialized software for anybody if there is any interest.

See you there!

Targa do a booking for about 60 people at a time into Hutt Park Holiday Camp and get good rates there when they travel down to doorknock stages, if enough people are interested in going down and don't have people to stay with then I could see if they can get us a deal there ?

I think it's more Upper Hutt than Lower Hutt, my geography down that way is a bit hazy ...

I could check to see if the Accor hotels in Wellington (link) have availibility (we'd need a solid date though) - on a F & F rate. PM me if you are interested and will give you some details. winkyy.gif

Well as you can see there are are some very keen folks, but I think you'll agree that there are not sufficient numbers at the moment to proceed (and it's not much fun to travel some distance only to meet just a handful of others).

However, perhaps the following information about busses and accommodation may assist:

1. the Hutt Park Motor camp is now called "Wellington Top 10 Holiday Park" and their web site is http://huttpark.co.nz. They are about 10 mins drive from Lower Hutt central.

2. They are on the No 83 Bus Route (Courtenay Place Wgtn to Eastbourne via Lower Hutt) which has a good timetable - see www.metlink.org.nz for all bus and train information.

3. The No 83 bus also goes to the Waterloo Railway Station if you're travelling by train.

4. For folk flying into Wgtn and wanting a bus then look at the Airport Flyer - Route 91 - also at www.metlink.org.nz

5. Both the No 83 & the No 91 busses stop at the Westfield Queensgate Mall Bus Terminal (in Bunny St, Lower Hutt) which is just 650 paces from the proposed venue (and if its raining you can cut through the Mall anyway).

We really want lots of folk to bring and demo their kit and skills in the 20 or so "hangars" round the room.

Let's continue with this Topic and review the numbers again on 16th July (so the venue can be firmly booked for us).

It's ON - its to be called "FSXPERIENCE 2009".

Please note the changed date - now on Saturday 15th Aug and its now in Wilton.

It will be sponsored by my web site www.milnes.co.nz

There is quite a bit of information available (venue, directions, buses & trains, electrical certificates etc etc) all too much to post in this Forum so I've posted an information page at www.milnes.co.nz and then click on the "FSXPERIENCE 2009" button.

Hope you can make it.
Should be fun.
Cheers

Anyone intending to go to this?
I'm hoping to go and take my son and see what others are doing with their setups.

Cheers
