Flight sim gathering - Nelson (Nov/2011)

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Postby deeknow » Sun Sep 11, 2011 11:06 pm

The board of Virtual Air New Zealand are excited to extend an invitation to NZFF-ers to join us for a flight-sim and real-world aviation event to be held at the Air Nelson base and airport on the weekend of 4th-6th of November 2011.

Join us in Nelson to learn more about this great regional carrier, to get some insight into the operational side of Air Nelson, and to learn more about the Bombardier Dash8/Q300 aircraft and this fabulous airport and environment. Your turbo-prop sim-flying experience will never be the same again biggrin.gif

Early birds will be arriving friday night for a quick catchup and intros. The event proper will run all day Saturday, with planned activities including talks by Air Nelson’s Ground Instructor, the Flight Operations Manager and other Air Nelson staff subject to rostering. We hope to get a tour of the Tower and other facilities during the day, and will have a BBQ or evening social event to wind things up.

To find out more about the weekend's plans please download the PDF following....
http://www.virtualairnz.com/share/vANZ-Nel...gether-2011.pdf

And if you decide to join us register your interest on the form on the following page:
http://www.virtualairnz.com/form-contact.p...what=nelson2011

This event is being organised by Nick Roberts (a staff member at Air Nelson) so feel free to PM either Nick (Link148) or myself, or reply to this thread if you have any questions about the plans.

We look forward to seeing you in Nelson. plane.gif

please note: numbers are limited so this is a first-in-first-served offer, also there is a site policy that visitors must be aged 16yrs or over so you will need to bring ID if you're near that age.

Hi Dean! I'll be keen to attend. It helps living in Nelson but this would be a good excuse for a get together! This will be a really interesting weekend.
I'll sign up with the vanz form soon.
Looking forward to it.

Hello Ian.
What things do you need to know and I will fill you in as much info that I have to hand at the Moment.
I envisage we will start at 9am on Saturday morning and end around 4:30pm that afternoon. Those who want to stay on for Sunday we are going to have a few flights or competition on the Simpit simulator in Tahuna in the Morning. Having had the opportunity to fly it, it is worth spending a few dollars to see what can be achieved now days in simulator building.

Cheers Nick,

Definitely interested and may have a spare seat. Have to wait till a bit closer to the date in case some work comes up - sadly earning the occasional bit of cash tends to be a priority at the moment!

Hey Brent/Greg, be great to see you two up in Nelson. Fingers crossed aye.

Check out the AirNZ site Brent, there are still some grabaseat flights avail between NZCH and NZNS for $83 each way, and of course you'd be flying on the mighty Dash biggrin.gif

Ok team being a month out I am Completing the finishing touches to the weekend. I am a little disappointed that we only have 13 people able to attend. Applications are still open so get your name in. We would love to see you there!

Hey team.
There are still many places available if you are still interested. Just a heads up for those who live in Christchurch, Air New Zealand still has the $50 standby fares available to travel to and from nelson to Christchurch. You must fly between 10am and 3pm but it's a good deal. Just call Air NZ on 0800737000 to book one. But it is standby and no guarantee of a seat.
For those of you who have registered, you should by Monday night, receive an email with a newsletter, map, name badge and a few questions to be answered so I can put the finishing touches to the weekend.

Looking forward to some fun.

Nick.

Just thought I would give this thread a bump, in case we can get any more people to Nelson for the gathering. I will see you all there on Friday night at the Honest Lawyer. Looking forward to it!

Sorry I can't be there, I'll be putting the finishing touches to Real NZ Nelson. But Simpit have a working beta installed, so if you get to pop in there, you'll be able to get a preview.
