Another big one in CHCH

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

It is very sad to see all the places you know and love, the places that you have grown up in and known all your life, reduced to rubble. So much heritage and history lost as well. Me and my close family are ok, but I thing my aunty and uncles place is pretty totaled by the sound of it. sad.gif

Aunty and Uncle are staying with us tonight. smile.gif
65 dead apparently, bob parker is saying it could double as I write this. Worst disaster for NZ since Erebus. RNZAF and USAF are offering their aircraft for medical transports, but they won't be going anywhere until the airport opens again.
I think Marty lives up the top end of the Waimak, but I hope he's ok nonetheless smile.gif.

How did john key get to Christchurch with the airspace closed?

The airport has remained open for emergency flights. There have also been medical evac flights to the other cities.

My thoughts are with all those effected by this.
If I didn't have work commitments that can not be bailed on, I would fly my once active carpenter ass down there to lend a hand.

Hi,

Good to hear Ian and all the others are OK at this time.

I have relatives in Rangiora that I have not be able to contact, but not too worried
as they seem a little bit away from the epicentre.

Glad to hear our OZ PM has a Hercules load of special rescue experts on the way.

Hang in there guys and the thoughts of all OZ simmer are with you tonight

Cheers
