Yet Another Trivia Quiz

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Ummmm... I will have to hand this back... I was going to put up a question related to my CPL nav study... and just noted that my exam is actually this friday at 0930... not next tuesday like I had booked it!

So I am now frantically trying to organise tomorrow off work, so I can cram the study I was going to do on Saturday, Sunday and Monday evening into tomorrow!

Handy Tip: It pays to double check exam acceptance slips! ninja.gif

Bump: Seeing as HCP handed it back and no new question was posted, I figure that I could have another go at asking a question?

If no one minds - here it is:

This is part of an aircraft.
For the first choccy fish, what aircraft type? There is a huge hint in the image.
For the second, what's its registration?
For the third, who does it belong to and what does it do?

Yip, you're both right.

Given that Paul was first, the duties of questioning go to him. Plus one choccy fish.
Alex, you get the the two bonus choccy fish.

I thought that one might be a bit obvious, but you've got to start somewhere.

Just on a side I ws lucky enough to meet Mr Houlton as he was a neighbour of my Dad - he also has his book autographed - sadly he died a few years ago.

And a number of others more current, espec in the UK.

Just a quick triv question, given I'm at work on the stat hol sad.gif , and keeping the Supermarine theme, in what years did Supermarine A/c win the Schneider trophy, what were the aircraft. (OK 2 questions)

I found 3 years and 3 aircraft:

In 1922 in Naples the British and French competed with the Italians and the British private entry (Supermarine Sea Lion II) won.

In 1927 for Venice there was a strong British entry with government backing and RAF pilots (the High Speed Flight) for Mitchell, Gloster and Shorts. Supermarine's Mitchell designed S.5s came first and second.

In 1929, at Cowes, Supermarine won again in the Supermarine S.6 with a new Rolls-Royce engine with an average speed of 328.63 mph (528.85 km/h).

Most important (and last ever) race was the 1931 race won by a Supermarine S6.B winning the trophy outright for the UK.
