hi all, just signing the register of members. Cameron from invercargill.

Ive been simming for a short while (from november last year) and have done about 90 hours total since starting. Id like to improve my south island scenery on FSX particularly invercargill. I start real pilot training on the 8th february this year but i think i will still use the sim to familiarize myself with the correct procedures and navigation aids.

What aircraft do people recommend as a quality addition to FSX? quite interested in using aircraft that we are accustomed to as new zealanders.

Welcome Morrisman- The poach from Trademe message boards worked I see

Sign up and have a search on Avsim- there are some good addons to improve the accuracy of that region and NZ (including updated Airspace boundaries).

Im also working on a NZ wide payware addon which will make NZ look much more like NZ and aid VFR navigation considerably.

In the sim or real life? In the sim I have spent most hours in the Beech Baron 58 but the king air would also be right up there. I use the 737 for the longer flights as I find the handling more predictable than the other medium jets.

In real life I will be training in Alpha 160a aircraft which are about 5 years old and i think built in NZ. I also have access to Piper Cherokee and eventually will do multi engine instrument rating in a Piper Seneca II.

I would rather freeware but if payware is good value for money I will look at that too.

I just saw that the seneca II is on that site, i could look at that because thats what i will be doing IFR training in so a little home study wont hurt. The training school also has a FAA certified simulator based on the seneca III.
