What traffic package do you run?

Hi there all. I really need to update my traffic, and i was wondering what the general consensus was on the better traffic packages to own. I run FSX. Also i'm looking at updating the weather so thoughts would be welcome. It is for my world tour.

WOAI takes a little while to get up and running but it's well worth it (it's free)! REX is brilliant!

World of AI currently, although now that it looks like FSX is going to be with us for quite a while I'm starting to consider adding some of my own AI traffic as well to fill in the gaps (by which I mean manually adding aircaft/flightplans - not actually making all the stuff myself). I did everything manually in FS2004 and the end result was really awesome (if a little harsh on performance) but it took such a huge amount of time I just haven't been able to consider repeating it until now.

I know there are commercial add-ons out there that do this, but some local NZ military traffic for FSX would be nice. I understand choppers are hard to code, but it'd be great to see Hercs and Orions whizzing around.

I know that WOAI does have military packages, but am not sure if they offer one for New Zealand.

Sadly, woamil19.zip is one of the files that went AWOL in the great Avsim meltdown - so the link at WOAI doesn't work.

Yep WOAI for me too, there are some recent ProjectAI packages that are probably worth adding. I also hand-cut the odd set of schedules and combine w AI skins but to be honest its a lot of work unless your doing something tied to just one region or event

I use WOAI, first priority, then PAI, 2nd then if there's nothing, I'll do it by hand. The amount of PAI/WOAI means I don't need to download the model, just the texture.

Im running a personalized traffic program using the retro 1980 AI and skyhawk package with a custom international AI for the early 1980 period and nearly completed all the RNZAF AI with 80s paint schemes.

OK I have been lurking in the background for quite a while and decided to take this opportunity to introduce myself and also answer this post. I am an ex-kiwi (Port Chalmers) who has been living in Hawaii for the last 30 yrs. I run FSX on a win vista 64 machine. with 8 megs RAM. I mainly fly just 3 aircraft. For a Jet I have the Cessna Citation Mustang, for a twin i fly the Beech Duke then i have a really nice little bush plane called a "Bush Hawk XP" the bush hawk is painted to look like sliced Kiwi Fruit and has the Silver Fern on the tail...a cool plan for flying around the Able Tasman Park.
I found this forum via Robin Corn, I purchased some of his nice scenery so that I can fly in my native country now and again..................Whenever i feel the need to view a beautiful country beneath my wings

I run a fantastic program called" Ultimate Traffic 2" Yes, you have to purchase the program but in my humble opinion it is well worth the $$$$$ shelled out. One nice feature is the airline schedule, it basically allows you to check out just what planes are in the air or at the gate ready to take off.
It has a really nice feature that allows you to temporary turn it off while holding at a busy airport with 5 planes ready to take off in front of you....................Lets you get to the front of the line up and after taking off you can turn the program back on again.

Hi Piko ... welcome! I'm a bit "the other way round" ... in that I only came to NZ around 10yrs ago - and use Robin's sceneries to get to know this amazing country! I know where all the airports are anyway .

I ran Ultimate Traffic (1) for a while, but was unimpressed by the rate at which liveries or timetables were updated (ie. hardly ever) - and some of the aircraft were a little crude. Worse - at some airports, they would disappear altogether (showing only the lights) if I had ground shadows turned on. So I gave WOAI a try and liked it a lot. It hasn't got all the "bells and whistles" but the actual AI seems to work really well. My NZ airports are teeming with traffic: AirNZ, Mt Cook, Qantas, Pacblue, Jetstar etc.... plus all the International airlines that fly in.

Anyone here want my old UT 1 ?

i use UT2 and Active sky evo, it seems they have nailed all the bugs of the previous versions, no more sudden wind shifts etc

Well ... I went a bit mad - read some forums and decided to risk UT2.

Overall, I'm very pleased. The AI models are *much* better and I've managed to map some of my flyable aircraft to AI. As a test, I generated a load of military traffic for Whenuapai, using my CS C-130's and B757's plus the Kawasaki Orions. It really brings things to life.

I also tweaked some of the GA flights to use NZ repainted aircraft. I now have NZ skies populated by NZ Tiger Moths, the WB DC-3 - and even the odd scenic flight by the Deere Spit

However - the interface is still a bit bizarre and the manual doesn't really explain the nuances of all the AFCAD parking slot names so there was a lot of trial and error to begin with. It uses SimConnect to insert the traffic and there are occasional glitches: doubled up aircraft and ATC just not knowing they were there. Many a time on finals, I've had aircraft passing *through* mine without a dickie bird from the tower.
