Good Question

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Postby Splitpin » Sat Apr 03, 2010 2:12 pm

Just had a visit by a friend who's son loves everything aviation (11 yo)....the kid is a walking database, amazing. Anyway he hit me with a question that really made me think, he asked..."of all the planes you have (for F/S), and have had...which one have you flown the most....and why?" rolleyes.gif Like most of you, my collection ranges from the Space Shuttle to the Wright flyer, and most things in between.

After some consideration, my choice was clear, its Rick Pipers 748. i must have flown thousands of hours in the old Budgie(F/S 9).....why, well, the model itself is great, good vc, amazing sound, predictable handling....and its fun to fly, i love it. He departed with a copy, plus the Andover with NZ Repaints .

I was wondering how you others might reply, just out of interest.

Happy eastering smile.gif

Cheers

Yeah, same with me, i have no one favourite model, it all depends on the mood.

One day i might want to have a nice relaxing sight seeing flight in one of Carenado's great aircraft, then the next i might want to take Lotus Sims L-39 for a gas around, low level flying, dodging powerlines(if if you could hit them tongue.gif ) and huging the hills.

The only thing i really never will fly are airliners, im not a fan of getting told what way to turn and when by ATC, i like to getting lost, and finding a way to where i want to go. Usually ill get there in the end.

But if i had to narrow it down, it would be:

Carenado's C182Q for those nice flights
Lotus' L-39, simply amazing
RealAir's Spitfire, for the warbird flights,
and....
im sure A2A's B-17 will very soon take a slot, buy the looks of it, it is amazing, cant wait to get it

But yeah, its all in the mood for me.

Out of all the aircraft I've ever had for FS, it was probably the FS2004 Project Fokker F100. Out of the aircraft I currently have installed, probably Tim Conrad's MS-760.

I am exactly in the same boat as Dion with the type of aircraft and flying... ie Carenado 182 and Lotus L-39

If I had the $$$$$$$$$$$$ I would buy and donate it to the Aviation Heritage Museum and it could be parked up where it should be alongside the Bristol freighter.

I would have to agree !! The absolutley unique, and unforgettable sound of Rolls Royce Darts,...... LOVE IT !!
I do fly the Wheelbarrow from time to time, and Ricks HS 748, but spend more time in the Fokker F-27, and the Viscount 807.

I do have the HS 748 Mt Cook Texture only also the Andover RNZAF textures only and if I could find a Fokker F-27 with a VC that worked in FSX then I would have one or two of those preferably in NAC and ANZ textures also would like to find a Viscount with VC that worked in FSX in NAC and or ANZ textures.

I think my two would depend on what I'm trying.

Low and slow - the Sf260 from real air, and if I'm cutting holes in the air - the level D 767

Though fly the AC680 a lot...
When asked what I have contributed to on this earth my reply will be my daugther
