Hello Chums and Chumesses.... winkyy.gif ...!

Being a Sim Pilot from the Northern Hemisphere, I find that I am having to get used to the fact that the New Zealand Seasons are the opposite of what we have in Great Britain!.... blink.gif ....!

I am constantly trying to replicate my English Autumn (September/October) Colours and Textures, etc, into my New Zealand scenery, and, of course it doesn't work!.... unsure.gif ....The Months are different!

Just browsed this useful bit of information, and saved it, which I am going to constantly refer to during each new flight....>>>>

http://www.newzealand.com/travel/about-nz/...and-weather.cfm

Its back to School with my Geography lessons....again!.... rolleyes.gif ....!

I use "Gerrish Greys Tree Set" for my FS 2004 trees, and the lovely golden "Autumn" trees show up very nicely in the Sim....

...I just needed to know which "New Zealand Month" they occur in!.... biggrin.gif ....March to May, apparently!

...and as for the "Time" being 24 hours out of kilter....that's another story altogether!...Time will tell!.... laugh.gif ....!

Paul...G-BPLF...FS 2004...FS Nav...and confused!.... winkyy.gif ....!

As an Englishman who works from NZ for a UK company, I can tell you that it's definitely not 24 hours ahead..but it takes about that to fly here smile.gif We're 11 hours ahead at the moment, then it'll be 12 for a time before it goes to 13 hours ahead due to daylight savings time kicking in/going out on different days. Only been here a few times before I came "for good" last November, but yeah..March is toward the end of summer (when we were married). And you think you've got it bad just working out seasons for simming? I live here and, believe me, Christmas in summer is weeeeird. dry.gif biggrin.gif

..it just seems like 24 hours, Adam...

..the "Time" is always "sometime tomorrow".... laugh.gif ...!

Its like a form of Time Travel into the Future every time I log on, or go for a Sim Flight!

Ian...

I was having a lovely day, ...... biggrin.gif ....until you encouraged me to listen to that Jim Reeves song!..... pirate.gif ....I feel quite queezy now!... sad.gif ....!

P.S. ...This is what I have installed on the bottom of my Firefox Browser....Add-on...>>>> https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1117/

Gives my the local times of my favourite "Sim Flight Sites" around the World..useful for on-line Multiplayer!... winkyy.gif ...!

Heh, my wife, a kiwi, who lived in the UK for 6 years has said that she misses winter christmasses...but not enough to want to go back either smile.gif Weirdest Christmas was a few years ago on holiday. We were at Totaranui in Abel Tasman, camping. On boxing day...one minute we were sunbathing on the beach, the next minute, clouds descend and it starts hailing...4 seasons in 1day indeed!

Being from England, and after being used to Sim touring California, sight-seeing, every single day, for the past 12 Years, (since Flight Unlimited II), which being in the Northern Hemisphere, I am used to similar daylight Time zones and Seasons; and it is quite a culture shock each time I fire up NZFF now, and load up a New Zealand Airstrip, only to find that I am in complete darkness, in the wrong time of the year!.... blink.gif .... laugh.gif ....!

I have to readjust my Sim aircraft clock, and Sim season, before each flight!... laugh.gif ...!

The Time Zone Clock at the bottom of my Firefox Browser comes in very handy!

Paul....G-BPLF...FS 2004...FS Nav...and Jet-lagged!.... winkyy.gif ...!

P.S. ...the really satisfying thing is...you all drive/ride on the correct side of the road!... wub.gif ....that makes me feel "at home"!...... winkyy.gif ....!

WOW...that's unusual.... blink.gif ...!

I must remember that, if I come over to NZ on my Motor-Bike!

Over here, the left-hand turner turns left first (priority), followed by the oncoming right-hander turning right, when safe to do so... smile.gif ...!

...its kept me alive for that past 60 years on my Motor-Bike.... biggrin.gif ...!

Paul...G-BPLF...FS 2004...FS Nav...and a Honda... cool.gif ...!

Recall and is appropriate from your Squadrons history , and the 60s Video sent few years back , the same song was used to hi-lite NZ in a advert , cant recall time or date but seemed to suit .

It was a Toyota ad I seem to remember- Made you feel all warm and fuzzy inside so you'd go out and a buy a car which, in all likelihood, would make the environment all warm and fuzzy too winkyy.gif

Joyce committed to this some time ago, this is just the rollout timescale.
I'm really tickled though, by the 30% or so who voted against the change in the online poll.

With the road rules many already use them , just the fact with parked cars in the narrow roads and room it was just easier to let them go , more goodwill than gripe and curtious .

Its the boy racers that wont understand the rules , they still cant understand how they got here ! blink.gif

The new change in the rules...

That's the way we observe the sensible Rules of the Road over here in England...(driving/riding on the left-hand side of the road).

Common sense and courtesy!... thumbup1.gif ...!

As a keen Motorcyclist I have to observe them for my safety!

Roundabouts....give way to Traffic approaching from the right... smile.gif ...!
