A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Postby Pete1800ftmin » Sat Oct 23, 2010 4:49 pm

Somtimes when Im piloted out,I really feel like just being flown somewhere.I would love to be able to simulate, sitting at the tarmac, props starting, taxiing, taking off and landing, all by itself.I dont suppose there is any way that I can make this happen is there?Im surprised that Microsoft havnt included this function.I know its a flight simulator which means 'doing'it,but I reckon alot of people would enjoy that.If theres any software/addons out there that would enable full 'autoflight' I would love to know.
Regards Pete.

You could record a flight in a aircraft with a cabin with fsrecord, then replay it in the cabin veiw.

Coming into CHCH , wingviews are important , many time s you travel it gets imprinted in your mind - course your going to need photoreal for the full immersion ! smile.gif

Yeah I know, but I get the jerkys big time with FS record.Plus it means flying twice. What I have done in the past is do my start up and taxi, then instant replay that, then autopilot the cruise, and ILS the land, using the altitude details on the top of the screen, staying in cabin view, all the while. It seems fiddly though. If you think about it.you just imagine how good it would be to have, real amazing cabins in say a 747,middle of the night,25000ft,dim lights, and looking out at the stars from your window seat.Bear in mind that you can relax, read a book, whatever, and then when the morning sun rises you can pull up your blind and wach her soar over and new continent and land, just as it woud for a passenger. You could settle back and look forward to your landing, without any imput from you.Sound nice.Sure does to me.Thats why I wish that there was a way to do that.I reckon that if Microsoft had a secondary game called say,FSX/Passenger,I think itcould really be a hit.

Maybe this new SIM,'Microsoft flight'will have this functioni.e being able to fly without any intervention from you. This makes sense bearing in mind that they say it will 'welcome everyone'.I mean what else could that mean except you dont have to deal with the complexitys of flying the aircraft if you dont want to.I hope so.

FSX already has that capability, but you need to be online and connected up with another pilot. I don't know much about it as I've not tried it myself, but I remember the FSX advertising spouting something about 'Cockpit Sharing'. It allows two players/pilots to be connected to one another, and like a real cockpit, one pilot is flying while the other assists with radio calls, checklists, systems monitoring etc.......... the link below has some good information about it.......

Thanks for that.
I guess i was kind of meaning somthing that could be done on my own.I guess the function doesnt exist.Ive looked on Google, and nothing really comes up.
Ive only got mobile broadband here(I live in a caravan,so no phone lines)and its as slow as dial up,so I dont think i could really hook up to multiplayer. This new SIM is going to be interesting.I must admit Im looking forward to seeing what its all about. What I was kind of meaning was a fully automated flight function, from the departure terminal all the way to the destination terminal, completely hands off.It will turn up somehow in the future.
Regards from Pete.
