I saw that it is still possible to try out the full motion airline simulators. I have done this a few times with different airlines, including Lufthansa. Great fun and almost as good as FSX on the home computer (!!!). I was surprised the Lufthansa are still offering this, as now with the crazy security I would have thought that it would have been stopped. My attempts back home were stopped by over-cautious AVSEC, as I was hoping to do it with AirNZ.

If anybody is heading to Europe (Germany, Austria, or Switzerland) then here are the details. I guess that you would have to pay 3 X 379 Euros to get a full hour at the controls as PIC, rather than just the 20 minutes that they are offering.

I got 2 hours as PIC on the 737-300 sim @ AirNZ for $300 on TradeMe (Charity auction they do every year - watch out for one this Xmas) - graphics on FSX were way better though :-)

when my old man was an instructor at ANZ when I was a kid I was lucky to have quite a few gos at the controls of the F-27 FMSim as well as the 737 FMSim. I remember doing a full approach and landing of the F-27 from Hamilton to NZAA with the old man teaching me to intercept the ILS with the HSI , not something every 10-11 year old got to do !!., the sim was only night time and didnt support daytime graphics at the time if i remember rightly . The 737 was alot of fun as well I was allowed to sit in the back of the simulators while dad was taking the student pilots through their paces.

Adrian , before they moved the old NAC Reddavision 737 sim from Christchurch i was lucky enough to get one hour plus in it , old black screen with white dot depicting the roads and city course the airport lighting , hell lotta fun .

my old man is Ian Brausch, from memory he went to ANZ to instruct on F-27's when I was about 9ish , couple years later re-joined Airforce and flew C-130's in the Gulf war shortly after which was about 1990 ?,...left Airforce to instruct 737's then rejoined Airforce till present. Il get some more specific dates for you when i have a chat with him.

The name rings a bell. I was on the F27 from around 1986 to 1990. Might have been a bit after his time.
