I saw that PMDG have released the manuals for their forthcoming 737 model. I had the boxed version of the FS9 737, so was watching PMDG for the FSX version. I was very surprised to see that the full set of manuals (which you can buy now) are almost 3500 pages. I would have to be VERY dedicated to study to this depth. Being PMDG, I guess that everything in the 737 will be functional, but still, almost 3500 pages is a daunting task. The price is not cheap either, as it is about $330 US for the Chief Pilots Set. I know that there are some who will love this, but for me, it is just too much information and probably too detailed. I found with the FS9 737 that it would take me about 45 minutes to even start it, by the time that I had run through the systems and programmed the FMC.

Good luck to those who can study almost 3500 pages, I will look forward to their screenshots and descriptions, but for me, I am just not that dedicated or addicted. I want the sim to remain fun. I will copy the extract from PMDG website below. Now where is that BN-2 Islander checklist.....?

3,500 Page Instruction Manual!...... blink.gif.... blink.gif ....!

I just need someone up at the "pointy end" to swing the Prop for me, whilst I twiddle the Throttle Knob...

...and then pull the Chocks away for me!... wink.gif....!

P.S. The lovely paper Manuals we got with FS 2000, Pro Pilot, Flight Unlimited, etc, suit me just fine... smile.gif ...!

Yeah....... its not quite up my alley either. I love being able to flick a few switches in the simpit to light the fires but spending half a year studying a manual......... for a sim!?!!? blink.gif I guess some of those dedicated 737 simpit builders out there will probably be interested for that extra realism factor!! happy.gif

Addiction or Dedicated reminds me of a poll I was going to start....... I cleaned up my HDD of all my FS downloads as I had stuff stored all over the place, not to mention gig's of addons for FS98 and FS2002!!! Even after that massive cleanup I still have over 57GB of software - not including the payware I have on CD!! Addiction indeed!!

There was a time while I was in Russia that I was leading (multiplayer) flights of A-10's on missions in Lockon. Now an A-10 is not the worlds most complex aircraft but you sure did have to read the extensive manual. Then there was all the tactical aspects that had to be learned. Whew! But fun and addictive.

Now I'm happy to kick the tires and crank up my Katana in FS2004 and point it at the sky :-) Even, dare I say it here, get immersed in Hawx - damn it, I keep wiping out 99% of opposition and then crashing on the last ground attack run!

I'm just about to install Captain Sims C-130, so that may require a bit more mental effort to get on top of.

I dou't if many would pay $330US for manuals unless you have a 'light experience sim' in your home biggrin.gif
