...here.

It's coming along nicely, and it seems to do a better job than FSX at atmospheric filtering -- there's a definite change of colour from foreground to background in the rainforest shot, something which FSX doesn't do, and has always annoyed me.
Mapped cliffs, rather than a few smeared pixels, mmm, nice...
Now I want to see some new ground textures in the next set of shots.

It dose look good , now i wonder how many current FSX addons will go into Flight , the aircraft seem to be FSX defaults

Looks good, but who the heck has a computer powerful enough to run it at smoothly. NASA? The CIA? Mike? laugh.gif

hmm some interesting additions to the scenery engine there- Namely stream lines have a water effect which should help give a sense of distance and light (in FSX a stream line is simply a texture- no water reflection etc is apparent)...although in some of the shots the line looks unnaturally wide, presumably due to mip-maps

The coast line seems to be more variable and with a water mask as well (enabling a small amount of sub-surface detail to be generated)

I have a feeling the tree in the second screen shot is probably a placeholder rather than actual autogen at this stage but probably does show where they want to go with it (i.e. higher LOD trees when up close....looks like it is casting a proper shadow too which is nice)

The mesh looks nice....but this is Hawaii where the default mesh in FSX is pretty good anyway.

Rob have you tried the ENB series shader for FSX? That amazing little bit of freeware will give you the lighting effects you are hoping for here.

Unless MS have recoded the engine to make use of GPU hardware then they are wasting our time and NZ will probably not look like NZ, as per usual. I am personaly not holding much hope for this product because of the direction MS have taken it.

I have been looking into using the ENB shader - how exactly does it work and where can I download it?

Thank you. Tried it out - didn't run so smoothly on my machine (laptop) so will have to leave it off.

Hmm, my FSX looks exactly the same with VLC and some other eye candies installed....I don't think I'd bother upgrading, I have no money for another new PC.....

I too blame Paul.

Although it doesn't show much more than we've seen before, it does show how the 'scale' of the default sim has changed -- you might be able to fly down that low in FSX+addons, but in the default it would be a pointless mess. It shows promise.

...I don't get the caption thingie -- 'fly for free' -- are they giving it away?
