I've also gone through this recently and have these working a treat:
GNZLAP Redux - Charl
GNZLAP: A Flock of Fletchers - Charl
RNZAF AI Package 1.1 - Charl
RNZAF AI Package 2.1 - Charl
10 AI Squirrels for New Zealand - Charl
NZ AI Bizjets - Dean, Charl, Ian
As I've become very familiar with tweaking textures after moving to FSX a few months ago, I did the prop fixes myself one by one. The good thing about doing this for the HTAI Cessnas is they also provide GA coverage throughout the rest of the world. I haven't used any of the AFCADs with Charl's packages which does affect the military AI in particular as that relies on AFCADs for waypoints etc, but I still see everything around so that's good enough for me even if it doesn't quite work as well as it was designed to. There are also still a few solid prop discs here and there as I couldn't fix aircraft without a separate prop texture but these minor issues are a small price to pay for the great experience Charl's packages bring.
I've also got running:
FTX AU Traffic - this is FSX native so doesn't need any tweaking. It's a brilliant package and even more comprehensive than the old VOZ AI Pack was. It works really well with GNZLAP. Interestingly, a lot of the models appear to be the same as in Charl's packages, i.e. FS2004 originally but converted to FSX by Orbx.
World of AI - all releases, except New Zealand and Australian airlines covered by FTX AU Traffic which I have installed but disabled. I found having everything running was too much with many double ups, including pairs of aircraft flying in on approach right behind one another.

One thing not mentioned in the thread so far is the need to convert any traffic files to FSX format. It's worth doing as even though the packages will still work, if FSX finds even one traffic file in FS2004 format, you'll lose all your standard FSX traffic. Most people disable the default air traffic anyway, but you would also lose your sea and road traffic.
I use AI Flight Planner (AIFP) for converting the traffic files. It's really easy and works well. All of the packages listed above have traffic files in FS2004 format, including World of AI but AIFP detects and converts them automatically in one operation. I set it to add "_FSX" to the filenames and then just delete the original FS2004 traffic files.
Hope that helps.
Was any decision made on a dedicated AI subforum? I would find it really useful and there still seems to be a lot of interest in the FS2004 AI packages.

Cheers,
Ade
