Somehow I seem to have missed it when this utility came out, so thought I'd post it in case anyone else was also unaware of it...

It copies some of the effects of FaceTrackIR and the freeware one that I tried but found to be far too fidgety to be useful, on my gear anyway.

This simply pans left and/or right as you bank the aircraft and gives a view just about where I would want to be looking as a pilot. So far I
have been very pleased with it and at this stage plan to leave it installed. It doesn't effect the use of the "hat-stick" at all, just gives the same effect
without the drama. Makes lining up landings much easier.

If you use the hat-stick and select a view (e.g. 90 degrees out the right window) it holds the view for about 3 seconds and then returns to a centre
view out the windscreen.

The only downside I have found so far is that if I select a view of the aircraft from side-on (outside) it again holds for about 3 seconds then pans back to
behind the plane. This would make taking screenshots a bit tricky although it is simply switched off.

The program loads outside of FSX (I have it on my desktop) and is simply started after FSX is loaded.

Would be interested to hear how useful others find it.

Some other member mentioned this in an unconnected thread which I can't locate, so thanks to that member.... biggrin.gif

That link doesn't work go to http://www.flightsim.com/file.php?cm=SEARC...tdir=descending you will have to sign in but it is on that page.

Found the main site for FSX Banking Camera - there is also a newer version that on the flightsim sites...

Thanks for that - it's a later version than the one I have installed, however when I try to upgrade I am
getting an error report regarding a missing DLL file. May fiddle a bit more tomorrow --

would like to hear what others think of it...?

At the bottom of the page there is a download for the Visual C++ V10 runtime from Microsoft - just download and install that and the error will go away.

The new version is much better - hot key to switch it on/off at will, max bank angle so it doesn't roll your head around 360 degrees! and is disabled in external view...

I love it - it adds a very immersive motion to turning - have even been trying it in the 737 and you can really 'feel' the turns. Even in turbulence you get a slight motion happening as the autopilot correct - I was even feeling a bit of motion sickness from the movement! And now with the hot-key function you can switch it off when you have important VC clicking to do :-)

I also have a TrackIR but I don't really like it most of the time as you are 'forced' to sit still facing the screen quite still and the amplification of head movement just doesn't feel immersive to me - I much prefer the Banking Camera effect - so thanks for your original post!

Cheers, Wayne

Yep that did it, I was in too much of a hurry to read the instructions....

I think this is one of those utilities that is too good not to use - the lack of depth perception in turning into a landing has always
been a reality let down for me and this goes a long way to curing it.
