My decision was made for me.

Always wanted the Carenado Seneca. At US$15, What a steal.

Also Purchased the Rescue pilot add on. Mostly chopper missions. Again at US$11, who could refuse.

Over US$60 for US$26.

My kind of purchase

Have the R44 and 300 cheap also.

Thanks for the heads up SB, I bought the Seneca as well.
Dont do a lot of twin GA flying, this is a good reason to get on with it now

how do you find the seneca? I wasn't too happy with it mainly due to flight modeling being questionable. Does yours stick to the runway till about 85 knots? Its quite a good plane once you are up in the air, doing short IFR runs is what it does best.

Hey Cameron. Just installed it and took it for a circuit round Hamilton. And yeah it sticks like a blanket until exactly 85kts, not a hint of movement until then. A bug?

Apart from that, as you say, once in the air its a dream. The VC is totally awesome, its a Carenado sure, but some VCs (including some other Carenado singles I've got) can get in the way a bit on approach but visibility wise but I reckon this is bang on, the model looks GREAT and the textures it ships with are sweet, sound pack is wicked, the cabin internal details are very nice. Well pleased with it so far, after my 3-mins total of flying time

Cameron, further to this, and after a few more takeoffs, rotation happens a lot earlier than 85 (as little as eary 70's) with a little takeoff trim and zero-flaps.

Yea zero flaps is standard procedure in that, 2 notches for a max performance takeoff. I find the default VC viewpoint is a little on the low side too, 4 points upwards is better - in the real plane yes you can see in front of you on the ground!

Challenge yourself, do a short field landing on grass and have it stopped within 200m. It can be done in the real one so must be piece of cake on the sim once you get rid of those safety margins

Having splashed out on the Carenado Seneca I thought I'd do an NZ repaint, took a look around the web this weekend at the liveries of the PA34's resident in NZ and to be honest they aint too exciting. Decided to knock one out for the Air Napier ZK-MSL machine, if anyone else has this model Carenado and would be willing to try out my livery let me know by PM and I'll flick you the textures. Would like to get it right before I upload to avsim/flightsim etc. Here's a screenie as-is:

Nice one Adam, thanks for checking it out. Took quite awhile to paint actually, so glad you like it

Weren't too many pics on the web for ZK-MSL so had to make some guesses about the wingtip paint details (if anyone's heading to Napier take your camera for me will ya

) Also had a cow of a time aligning the blue/red/gold strips across what are 3 seperate fuselage textures. Unfortunately the engine cowling is mirrored on the aircraft so the starboard-side Piper logo is back-to-front which cant be helped really. Apart from that it seemed to work out pretty well.

Learned a bunch of painting stuff too I hadn't encountered before. E.g. eventually worked out how to use the single layer repaint kit from Carenado (using the layer multiply feature). Also new to me was using alpha channels (did so for the polished metal effect on the engine cones (what do they call those things?).

Nice repaint, wish I could do even half as well ! I hate trying to line up separate fuselage parts with a passion.

I'm not a huge fan of GA aircraft, but this Carenado one is really quite sweet ... the repaint certainly gives it more appeal!
