By the way, what website did you find your image? It is excellent quality, and I would like to see some more if it is possible- especially of the central North Island where Blackmagic is... I wonder is he is cut off from the outside world right now? I havn't seen him on the forums for a while

I'm amazed how Tekapo stands out -- the colour is bizarre.

It's Pukaki that throws me - I recall challenging Christian about it, and I suppose it's glacier meltwater that makes it quite as turquoise as that.
Haven't figured out why, though.

OK here is a update on how things have affected me or should say have not! First thing was we moved North of Ruapehu so the effect on us is even less Last Sunday saw us evacuate the mountain in a blizzard nothing like standing halfway up a mountain road watching people come down as cautious as they could in a freezing snow storm Took us 2 hours to get a bus down compared to the normal 15 minutes
Monday went to work in in the worst weather for a long time and then got sent home and enjoyed the second challenge of getting to National Park in a blizzard with a Road made of bullet proof ice. Snow chains are a cars best friend
Tuesday was blue skies and a day of sking for me along with Wednesday! Yesterday was another lets get them off the mountain fast day and I had to pick my way off the hill in zero vis with a wind that kept repointing my car with chains when I stopped for lower slower traffic. Best of all the main roads were all closed due to the weather however I had little trouble getting home as it was patchy ice. Today went to work drove into strong winds then got sent home again but the roads were fine for us but some of the staff could not get in from Turangi. Although the Highways were officially still closed.
Oh and it took until today to get my phone and internet connected not that I missed it.
Oh and the first person in Jaffa land that complains its cold! Just put a another jumper on

Your stories and photos are very interesting- thank you for sharing, its much better coming from a local rather than a "news reporter"

It must have sucked to have no communications, but at least the electicity was still working for ya- imagine life with no lights, heaters or flightsim

As for up here in Jaffa land, it is a bit nippy, but nothing compared to the UK where I woke up to meet a temperature of -6 degrees

Well its not exactly warm! Night times its been below freezing most nights we had minus 6 a few nights back and it was just 2c in doors You can not compare NZ weather to the UK the houses here are made of wood and mostly un insulated.

Great! The trip down to Invercargill in August is going to be fun... I moved to Florida for a reason.
