Anyone Using AES? And Another Addon Question

Hi there,

So I am still planning my upgrade to FSX (and obv. VLC ): I have found my computer I think, and now planning my addons.

Do any of you use AES? If so, how do you find it? Worth the money? Are any of our NZ airports AES compatible? Which ones?

Also, I am planning on getting FS2Crew set up properly to give me a more lifelike feel, but can it work along with FS Passengers X? Wouldn't the co-pilot/crew sounds clash with eachother?

My payware addon list at this stage is:

I have FS Passengers - but to be honest, the novelty wears off pretty quickly. Looks like you're still enjoying yours! I suspect the same for FS2Crew (though I only had a very early version for the ATR on my old FS9 setup).

I'd save your money and get the A2A Spit! Or wait for the new PMDG 737.

Not sure about AES. I prefer animated/AI *aircraft* instead, so opted for Ultimate Traffic2. REX is also a

The LevelD 767 is a definite YES, as is (of course) VLC. Of course, you should think about some Godzone RealNZ, if you haven't already got them all ... not to mention HamiltonX etc.

You may want to look at the A2A Cub as well as the Carenado C185.

I never considered AES for FS2004, but I did look at it for FSX, it was released just a bit too late for me to use. However I am looking at ideas for future projects (which may or may not include a new NZWN.) I remember seeing a preview video of a new system which I can't find now, due to my inability to remember anything important. This video included animated baggage handlers etc -- no, not FTX.

All looks good Scotty. Only thing I would look at is the PSU. Is 550W gonna be enough? What youre installing will be close to maxing it out.
Check out the Antec P193 (thats what Ive got) Its huge and came with a 1200W dual channel PSU in its own enclosure and a million fans,
well OK 4 up top plus the standard PSU fan for about $630.A bit pricey but great for upgrading internal hardware.You can chose your own PSU though.
Also the air filters are a breeze to clean as they all clip in or slide out.The P193 is one of my all time favorite bits of hardware that I can forsee having for a few years. Oh did I mention it is HUGE.

Don't get AES! Wait for FSDreamTeam GSX which is like AES but better and works with ALL airports for FSX. Not released yet and looks awesome!

ATI sucks get Nvidia. GTX570 would be good, IMO.

Check out the Asus GeForce ENGTS450 DX11 card at around $200.Seems to be good value.
But Nvidia owners on here will have a better idea.
550W PSU "should" be enough until you add another card.The suggested P193
and 1200W PSU is prob a little extreme for the price. Some cards will draw 100-150W
loaded though.So if you add another one........

Get a GTX 460 or over, 560Ti or 570 would be best. choices are 460, 465, 470, 480 (465, 470 and 480 run hot and loud, cant be clocked much higher) 560TI, 570 or 580.
If you get a 570 or 580 you will need at least a 750Watt PSU

And if this is mainly for FSX you should just get a i5 2500K, the only differnce is that the 2500K dosn't have hyperthreading which FSX can use anyway.

Yeah as discussed I'd look at a bigger PSU, I had a 500W one initially which I've since had to replace, if you can negotiate one now at purchase time you should save some $$$

Also, I've been pricing up some bits for myself lately, can anyone confirm that to take full advantage of 3-channel architecture in the i7 chipset that you should be fitting 3 (or 6) sticks of RAM? If that's the case then Scotty you should look at fitting 3x2GB sticks of memory instead of the 8GB you're looking at now (or 3x4GB but thats probably overkill)
