Every now and then, a green bar with coded weather info will pop up into the top of my FSX screen whilst running REX2 real world weather.

Can anyone explain/decode this a little, or know where it comes from?

Looks like you have your REX config set to process METAR info (as well). I just get the usual "Loading textures etc." in the green bar.

Aircraft Meteorological Data Relay (AMDAR) WMO basically real-time reporting of Met electronically from equipped Aircraft.

I'm taking a guess here (and would love to be corrected if I'm wrong) but I read it as

Flight Number / Long / Lat / Time (z) / Flight Level / Temp (MS = minus) / Wind Dirrection / Speed / Unsure of rest TBO etc but could be reporting A/c Track and Speed?

Why is the wind speed and direction in the rex data bar different from that displayed above it in the fsx display? and which is the wind present in the sim?

Possibly because it's scrolling through different weather stations and that particular one isn't where the flight is currently located <???>.

Hi Andrew the AMDAR report (Green Box) is reporting the conditions that were experienced by flight NZL025 at 4306 South 17242 East at the time in the report. This location is different to where the FSX simulated aircraft is currently located. In the real world AMDAR reports are automaticly sent from airliners by VHF ACARS and satellite back to the ground. This way the flight conditions can be made available to following aircraft / controllers etc to optimise the choice of flight levels etc.

Cheers,
Mark

As long as the discussion is the 'greenbar', has any of you Rex users encountered a texture color change (pink) when the bar appeared? With me it reverts to normal when you climb through 2000 ft.

Oooeerrr ... no ... it's never gone pink for me laugh.gif. Does it *stay* pink right up to 2,000 ft? Weird! Is this the standard REX "loading textures" info or the METAR info (as shown above)?

Standard "loading textures" but I've got a hunch it's something else that's causing this. Not to worry, will be taking a serious look at the forthcoming 'Active Sky 2012'.

I tried everything to turn my green bar pink laugh.gif ... but no "luck" winkyy.gif .. I'd be interested to hear what causes it for you though.

Thanks for the explanation fellas- the bits in the middle made sense, it was just the stuff at each end that baffled me.

Bit of a pointless feature as far as I see it sim wise, that NZ25 is the Tahiti flight I believe, and when I punched in the co-ordinaries, they were half way across the Pacific. This is bearing in mind that the screenshot at the beginning of this topic was taken overhead Nelson. Cheers for clearing up the confusion anyhow!

My strongest suspect, unfortunately, is the new 'Shade' program. Thus far, when I don't run it, nothing turns pink.

That sounds pretty likely. Have you edited your palette away from the defaults? Maybe there's a rogue colour in there somewhere.

I don't touch the REX options or use the interface at all , changed the cloud textures and the general types of weathers and simply run real world 95 percent of the time .
