As a US resident, I've had no issues, but I wouldn't trust their time estimate since who knows what customs is up to....

Yep, this generally seems to be the issue hhaha

No real issues and I have 1 or 2 parcels a month coming out of various places in the US.
I have had the odd trackable parcel that has taken 5 days just to leave the US and I have had 1 incident of a priority parcel taking 41 days from when it was apparently sent to when it arrived. Unfortunately it wasn't trackable but I think it probably went by ship and not aeroplane.
I have never had an issue with NZ Customs other than being hit with duty a couple of times but I have always received the parcel within 24hrs of paying the duty.

Just depends how busy NZ customs are it can sit in customs for up to 4 or 5 days before they get to look at it but at this time of the year it should go through in a couple of days.
I had a parcel arrive in late December last year and it sat in customs for a week before it was processed.

FWIW Items I have had shipped from USA to Australia in the past have taken anywhere from 7-14 days. I don't worry too much until the 14 days has passed.
Usually takes 3-4 days after the item is shown as arrived in Australia to get to me (customs delays etc)

I think the it would be a speedier process simply because it is a book , no cavities to hide anything in ... or maybe a history of continue aircraft book buying gives me a VIP pass

I believe I seen your beloved yoke on border security just the other night it happened to feature along side two lovely doors witch led to the total destruction of the two lovely doors, after finding nothing inside attention was quickly turned to the nice flight control. Mr customs was rather eager to drill great dirty holes in it before attacking the plastic finish with a great big hammer. I am sorry to inform you, your shipment will arrive in a black plastic bag rather than a box.

On the plus side NZ customs has learnt from the two falsely identified packages leading to the replacement of the X-ray machine and an update in practice. the change in the practice means NZ customs blocks thousands of drug imports a week. Be aware that this reviewed process comes at a price which has lead to a raise in importers tax which you will be very lucky not to have to pay. But I wish you the best of luck with your purchase and your customs experience.

all this joking around makes me seriously question what happens when custom makes a stuff up and damages someones goods for no need. And just to keep this thread on topic, the only trouble I have had with shipments is in customs and the importers tax which I seriously believe is Mr customs requiring a pay rise or just a little bit more lunch money.
((No offence to any customs officers that view this thread) although feel free to inform me what happens when you stuff up))
