With the release of P3D-V2 next week , I noticed a huge influx of Xplane files over the last few months and this morning at Flightsim.com the site was swamped with mesh files yet we see limited screens and peoples take with and on this simulator , seems Flight Simulator 9 and 10 still rule the roost ... they do say many files can be transferred across from Microsoft's Sim and they say the dynamics are better yet we see little or no screens .

X-Plane is alright, but it has it's own set of issues, which means it remains a sim with a minority amount of users.

My main issues with it are:
The plausible world idea is something you either love or hate, and for me it's the latter. Seeing completely barren airports and having to rely on users to populate them can also be seen as a considerable negative point.
Lack of high quality addons (there's literally only a handful).
The flight model often let's users think planes fly extremely twitchy and nervous when they are actually quite stable in real life. It also has some exaggerated effects like prop torque which completely ruin simulation for me personally.

Great Jasper , thanks for the follow up .. hopefully i may add some input and compare after the many years in the Microsoft bucket shortly.

There was a big 55GB global mesh update released as freeware. It was uploaded to flightsim.com as it's main storage.

With a cap at 50kb/s you can imagine people were a bit cross-eyed looking at how fast it was coming down. Then to find flightsim.com doesn't support resuming for broken downloads....

X-plane is different, it takes some getting used to but it does grow on you. Some features are missing or not implemented well but it's still a very nice sim and if you like night flying it has the best night flying of anything.

In the last couple days there have been some big releases that change it's look a fair bit. Graphically it is better than FSX but the plausible world lets it down IMHO and the barren airports is also a let down.

You can get a lot of freeware for it to fill in a lot of places, a lot of free photo scenery and airports etc.

if you have the bandwidth to download the demo then give it a go to see how it runs.

Cleaning PC's up be able to have a look later , Brother mention its quite different , simply be interesting to compare course guess that puts me into that position since ive pretty much seen them all after the last twenty years, d/loading from FS.com would may it frustrating for many .... they re famous for that that
