I use REX but not REX 4. I find their naming conventions for their products is a little confusing. I had REX (2) then I updated to REX Essential, which then became REX Essential Plus and then again there is REX Textures which is an enhancement to REX and referred to as REX 4. I bought REX 4 but have yet to download it, I guess I am in no hurry as the main weather engine is in REX Essential Plus and as far as I can tell the textures used are improved in REX 4 but it is not an automatic system and adds another layer of complexity about selecting which textures you use etc. The reason no download is the servers to download are cr@p and drop out for me and as I am restricted in my download allowance by my Telco because I use a mobile modem, I got tired after about 5 attempts of burning up 15 GB plus of my 20 monthly allowance and then having it stop or drop out with about 500 mb to go. Thats my whinge. As for REX 4 I am in no hurry, but the screenshots on the REX forum indicate that better cloud layering and appearance is achieved. We shall see one day.

I use REX Essentials + HD for the textures but ASN for the weather so... Theres so many choices and they all work differently on different systems.

I'm using REX4, best difference is that it loads the textures almost instantly. Eg when swapping out clouds, sky etc.
The UI is lacking a bit and some of it is confusing some times but I have found a set I like so don't change anything now.

I use REX4. I like it far better than essentials and overdrive.
With previous Rex installments they would tend to make the sky look too ultra HD and that kind of killed the realism for me. With REX4 the options give a far more realistic looking sky. Although bear in mind that it's only a texture package not a weather program as well like the previous ones. I use activesky next for my weather program and they complement each other very well.

Strangely doing a MP today , default weather almost equaled what can possibly happen in and around NZ sectors .. just the programs make the weather look prettier ... very much it !

Since updating my "REX-Essentials HD" I have had no end of trouble with the "Real World Weather Engine" that REX is suppose to use....??!! It worked fine until I was told -by REX- to update.

So there is no way in the world I would fork out more money for something that may or may not work?
