Kelvin when using the rift how do see the keys on your keyboard or charts etc?
Remember the 50-50-90 rule. Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong!

I use hardware switches for functions so rarely use keyboard. bit tricky for charts but I'm toying with options but at present best way would be GPS as it's all in the cockpit. it's still in early stages but the experience is far beyond the 2D plane. it's just a different way to see FS on the PC.

Cheers

Too far for me too unfortunately.

I had the opportunity in discussion with a game developer late last year of experiencing the Rift and appreciating its potential. The resolution was not particularly high though and I understand that its a WIP but where is it currently sitting in that regard?

One off the things Kelvin pointed out is having all controls at your finger tips, I can see why he is selling his radio stack .. ya do need your peepers for that, so maybe not an advantage as yet for FS - would suit the combat simmer tho.

actually Ian I'm selling the stack because I'm making custom panels. I will use switches and encoders without the lid screens because I will have the screens in the Sim to display the output thus no need for the stack. as long as each function can have an external input such as potentiometer, switch, or encoder, then it can all remain inside the headset.

@dart
in my opinion the Rift works well because it is best used as a seated experience.

as for visuals for simming then all it needs is sharper, higher resolution with strong antialiasing. for now it's about the experience and potential for where it will be in a year or so. you just have to put it on your head to start believing.

Even further for me, 12,000 miles... times like these can be so frustrating laugh.gif

But rest assured I'll be taking advantage of Kelvin's kind hospitality again at the earliest opportunity on my next time in NZ thumbup1.gif cheers1.gif

Saw Occulus Rift in action with P3D at Flight Sim 2014 and it was very impressive even in its development version ohmy.gif

I spend eleven months of the year in the UK and one in NZ. I'm hoping to improve that... ;-)
