Heya guys I'm having some problems with ATC in fsx Steam flying the default 737 800 at times it takes me on a very roundabout way of getting to an airport, for example flying from Wanganui to Wellington this morning it took me out round the back of Kapiti Island then what I thought would be a turn to the left and pretty much head straight in southbound it made me turn a sharp left making me head back towards Kapiti then a right turn toward Welly like an S bend and finally over flying the runway off coarse, also it keeps tossing me between Ohakea and wellington ATC just wondering if there are any other AT packages for NZ? maybe even freeware? Or global, I mean someone who knows where they are going? Lol

That is pretty much the same with the original FSX default flight planner, one flight almost had me in the west coast and when I did have permission and given instructions for landing , another AI was directly in front with the same permission , one off those loopy FSX and previous things , I can say I have not tried the P3D with the FTX-AI .. after my first dogleg trip I gave up on the flight planner so I'm not sure if there is a real answer for this , maybe time to try it again myself.

Yes I had the same problem for IFR flights in the beech 1900 it wanted to take me the more scenic route. I at the time could not find a fix and have switched to P3D.

We just have to accept that the default ATC is not very clever...I'm in a 747 climbing out of Heathrow, and they want me to confirm I can see the aircraft "at my six"

That is a little silly, this one thing I have not tried in P3D, I'm not hold my hopes up but another good example is when your given permission land another one push's into your slot, this is were I found the 'FLY TAMPA YSSY ' scenery appeared to control stacking aircraft one seemed more sensibly and even had them using the cross runway so it look like the designers were thinking of this sort of thing.

Before I moved to FSX SE from FS2004 I bought software called Radar Contact which was good and solved default ATC issues. I haven't done anything about looking into it for Steam though.
