the future of flight simulation?

I just saw on Steam that Dovetail Games has discontinued its Flight School after a year or so. As I understand it, Flight School was a major reason for DTG picking up MS FSX. Does anyone have any further goss on whether this might impact on DTG's future support of FSX Steam? It's my flight simulator of choice.

Dovetail are still working on their 'next gen' simulator, as far as I know, I don't think that anyone expected great things from Flight School, though. I'd hate to have to bet on a flightsim future at the moment, a lot of promises but nothing delivered yet -- except X-plane 11, which I'm still not convinced of as a viable development platform. By the end of the year things may be clearer -- contenders are Dovetail, Lockheed Martin, Aerofly, X-plane.
Actually, I guess I do bet on the future of flightsim -- I just have no clue about which way to go, though:)

The one thing I did say years ago even before Lockheed Martin released there P3D is what better choice can you have to have an aircraft company making Flight Simulators , biggest thing I got was getting gifted P3D and anyone has performance issues .. that is the direction to take , I was astounded with the results ! .. for those who are ORBX based , they are walking away from Xplane ... soooo .

Sure seems like the Flt Sim business addon is doing better now .The folks that make the mods ,hardware and scenary are still surviving, where as the actual game developers are mostly struggling. Lockheed Martin can keep going, I would say if they can't make it fly then who can? Xplane?I am not seeing the interest, just not enough flt simmers to support them all ..People have stuck with Flight Simulator and they naturally are not keen to shift but happy to use P3D of course as its feels so much like FSX.

" P3D of course as it feels so much like FSX." being the catch phrase.
