Well, this is gonna please a lot of people...

Yes, the 'ideal specs' are right up there as expected, but 'recommended' are more than reasonable... I'm pretty much there....

AWESOME !!! thanks for sharing Rob. Been holding off for months now waiting for more info before building a new rig. I'm gonna slide in somewhere between "Recommend" and "Ideal" with an all AMD Ry5/3600X and RX 5700XT. Have always been an Intel guy but wanna build an AMD rig and have other uses for it than just Flightsim (I know, I'm weird

)
cheers again.

There are some new Intel CPUs due out in May, along with AMD Zen 3 towards the end of the year. So I may hold off until then.
I would be interested to see if MS2020 makes good use of multi cores.

I hear you, however, the 10000 range are supposed to offer quite a single core speed increase (and cache) which certainly helps with sims such as P3D that don't utilise multi cores well.
I'd certainly be interested to hear about multi core performance in FS2020.

I've just done a comparison with the recommended specs, at the moment my processor is 8% (on average) faster, and the GPU is 18% faster. The limitation for me is the RAM, at 8GB, although I have bought 16GB but I can't get it to run stably -- I do hope to get that sorted. My bandwidth is 50+, so 'ideal'. This is on a 7 year old system, although the GPU has been upgraded since. I do hope to get an all-new system this year (closer to 'ideal', but it is great to know that the release version will run ok as-is. I wish I could say the same about Prepar3d v5, which I think has left me behind...
This kind of re-affirms my belief that MS flight simulator is the sim for the 'rest of us', and because of this it'll automatically take the lead again once it gets established.

I was planning a PC upgrade at the end of the year anyway but it's good to see that this should run reasonably ok on my current setup.
