Have cut down to two sims now
XP11 because it has a lot of freeware and the ability to modify scenery easily
Concentrating on NZ mostly with fairly decent NZAA, NZWN and my own version of NZCH. Also use ortho4XP to create up to date photogen of Christchurch. Aircraft are Flight Factor A320, majestic Dash8 and an old ATR.
MSFS, can't beat the visuals. Have payare flightbeam NZAA and NZWN, waiting on NZCH (two versions in pipeline) in pipeline. For aircraft I have feeware fly by wire A320 in air NZ and Jetstar livery and waiting on ATR (two currently in production).

Funny to think that I'm just about in the same position -- X-plane 11, and MSFS, although I still have FSX on an old PC just in case. 3 versions of P3D still installed but have let the licenses expire a while ago.
By the way, just picking up on your comment about NZCH for MSFS. I now have no plans to release my NZCH, as it no longer makes sense. This was always dependent on getting Marketplace access, and it's now coming up for 20 months since I applied, so it looks like it will not happen. I hope that NZA will do it justice. There's no reason why it wouldn't be a success, although I will be looking at the feedback when it is released.

That is a shame, your NZCH is outstanding, but I understand market pressures make it difficult. You have inspired me to have a go at my own NZCH for xplane which was a massive learning curve, and the fancy bridge by the airport entrance is beyond my capabilities unfortunately.

I WAS 4 sims until a month ago (FSX, P3Dv3 + 5, MSFS) and then dropped FSX and am about to drop P3Dv3
Main reason I've kept the older versions was that most of my flying is in aircraft I prefer to fly or know the best (B1900, 737 classics, 727, 757, 767, 777) and none are avail in MSFS, and not likely to be anything decent popping up inside the next year or so, so will prolly NOT be down to one sim (e.g. MSFS) for some time

Anyone with both Xplane 11 and 12, can all your planes and scenery incl Ortho migrate from 11 to 12 ?

Pretty much every aircraft and scenery from 11 will load in 12 but some of the features may be broken

So Pleased to see more followers of X plane 11 and 12 on this friendly site. keep it up and maybe an x plane page will develop.
Living in Ashburton i so miss toprobs scenery especially for me my home airport NZAS but i understand Rob.Some how i must learn to use Web and create the runways and surroundings. I have plenty
access to take site photos.
As yet i have not transferred any addons to XP 12 from Xp11 untill the final public release. Try xp 12 beta 7 with C172 on a VFR cross country depart Tekapo airport climb to 4500 ft head for Mount Mary (RY) DME on to Pukaki airport then to Oamarama airport follow SH8 turn left at Broken hut road head up the Omarama valley find Top Hut go over Thompson saddle ( Oamarama saddle) down the Manuherikia river or valley to Falls Dam then on to Omakau and try a landing on Alexandra airport a nice tar sealed runway another haunt of mine. XP 12 Beta 7 displays this flight much better than Xp 11
Good luck.

That sounds like a good trip.
I'll have a look at that tomorrow.

I presume that people are using the NZ ortho?

For my testing of x plane 12 beta 7 i have no airport add on's and no NZ ortho . My reasoning was that i wished to compare both xp 11 and xp 12 on their own merits without any interference of additional scenery to Xp 12 Beta.
I am well pleased with the progress that LR are making with XP 12 Beta.
My X plane 11.55r has a complete list of NZ add on airports and NZ Ortho.

Fair call, I had the ortho in 11 and so a fair comparison would be to have it in 12. It works fine. I do a bit of flying in the US and the default is a big improvement on 11

For Rocky, i made a typo on that VFR cross country trip. When you get to the end of the Broken Hut road the Omarama stream is on your right follow the Omarama stream that takes you down the
Omarama valley then cross the Omarama saddle to Top hut and then follow the Manuherikia River West branch to Boundry Creek hut and onto the junction of the West and East Manuherikia rivers to
Falls Dam then to Omakau on to NDB Alexandra (LX) then on to Alexandra (NZLX)
I am sorry i said a Thompson saddle to cross that was wrong as thats another cross country trip you can explore from SH8 down the Ardgour Road then follow the Thompson Gorge road then over the Thompson saddle @ 910m ( 2984.8 Feet) then pop out at Omakau and off to Alexandra. This trip was our regular path from the Lindis to ALex in the R22.
Happy flying enjoy.

Well I just finished flying that route.
Followed your course more or less.
Man there is a dust problem at NZLX.
I'll have to clean out the air filter on the 172.
I used to fly all round this area on FSX.
From memory you could plot a course on a map & follow it on the GPS.
Don't know if thats an option on XP12.
I'm still trying to perfect my RNAV approaches.
Been practicing at NZDN.
It's fairly easy to latch onto the ILS there.
The 172 almost lands itself.
I used to be able to fly the big jets into NZQN.
Still got some of the flight plans on file somewhere.
