NZWR VOR

Hi,
I recently purchased the Black Square Analog upgrade to the MSFS2020 default King Air 350i. One of the neat features is it features the 1980s vintage RNAV KNS-80. Back in the 80s if you read FLYING magazine there was lots of articles about how to fly from point A to B and points in between without having to actually overfly the usual VORs on the route. Instead the KNS-80 would allow you to make up to 4 artificial VORs by your inputting the radial and distance from a particular real VOR.
So with this in mind I planned a flight from NZAR (Ardmore) to NZDA Dargaville. The first part of the flight was OK as i used AA and WP VORs to set my waypoints over Browns Bay and Muriwai. But try as I might I had no luck with the Whangarei VOR despite it coming up on the Navigraph VFR chart.
I then discovered the MSFS 2020 is missing a lot of VORs around the world. Has anyone come up with a way to modify MSFS to add VORs?
Cheers

Peter C

Umm, are you sure that there is a Whangarei VOR? It’s been awhile since I was in the industry so things might have changed since then but I think there is only an NDB and a DME at NZWR - that’s what the current AIPNZ aerodrome chart shows for NZWR and there is no VOR approach for NZWR. Again I might now be wrong about that though if things have changed.

Hi John,
I was basing my thinking on the Navigraph charts info so I would need to check the NZAIP
. However i suspect you are right. I contacted Navigraph earlier this year because the NDBs I was hoping to use near NZAA were not present on their charts. Yes, they are no longer there in real life having been deactivated some time ago.

Yes, only a DME there.
