Some things from my calendar over the next 7 days..
I always get excited when a new sim is due, I don't know why. I can remember back in the day I'd stop off at the big old tech store on Moorehouse Ave -- can't remember the name -- on release day for just about every MS version. I may set the alarm for Wednesday morning, 5am, but as I'm always busy on Wednesdays it may just be a quick few minutes before my grandson wakes up.
I have been thinking about some sort of PC upgrade, but really it's too close to xmas to go spending too much money. My system will run ok in 2024, but like 2020 I may need to pull the settings back a bit, so a GPU would help a lot. My son has been talking about VR, he is a big Apple fan, and was very excited about their AR headset, but now that they've slowed that right down he's keen on the Meta Quest 3. I must admit this appeals to me, but my 2070 Super is very low-end for VR.
This weekend is the big model railway show here in the Hutt, this has become a family tradition, my grandson is only 3 and this will be the third time we go. You gotta start them early. Hopefully I won't feel the need to buy random stuff.
I have been looking at some scenery projects which need finishing, as MSFS2024 would be the ideal platform to get back into it. I have even resurrected NZCH today. A long time ago -- before I shut down the business -- I had an issue with NZCH which I just couldn't solve, so I put it aside. The problem was a strange fence near the aeroclub which wouldn't disappear no matter what exclude tools I used. Today an idea just popped into my head -- what if it wasn't a 'default' feature, but something I'd put there? In that case an exclude wouldn't work. So I checked, and sure enough I'd done it myself. Talk about stupid. One click and it was gone. All I need to do now is to rebuild the P3D jetways for MSFS, which may or may not be take a while.
And of course there's NZPP, which is about half-finished.
