I have received a number of PM's and emails on the status of the 'official' Forum Field video, so thought it best to post a general update.

Progress has been slow for a number of reasons, the new website, the awesome 4Some package and extensive travel for work being the primary reasons.

So far about 20 minutes of final footage has been completed, I am pcking I have about the same amount to go. As you can imagine 12 hours worth of AVI format data takes up a considerable amount of HD space, so its a matter of doing chunks at the moment to ensure when I compile the final cut I have enough room on the HD for it to save. Typically a 5 minute shot consumes 12 GB due to the quality settings I am using, the final product will be compressed but to acheive high quality visuals your master needs to be high quality.

We also have gaps in coverage that people recording their displays in fsrecorder were going to help solve. Unfortunately only Timmo did this so its made life more difficult as I am relying on Niks footage, my own, plus the fsrecorder data I recorded on the night to try and plug these gaps. So that means more recording time in FSX. Now, with SP1 improving sim performance but causing jitters when using FRAPS, the issues compound. So what should have been straight forward is not quite so. Luckily I have plenty of hair on my head, the gaps left by the bits I am ripping out at times dont appear to be showing.

So, it will be released when its released, cant give definate dates sorry. I do promise that the final product will be worth it (cripes, now I've set myself up havnt I)

A final note, the final video will have to be CD based so it can be a reasnoble screen size and all the work done to make it look good isnt lost, I will also upload it to YOUTUBE but they compress the hell out of files so its not ideal.

I'll update things as they progress. Cheers.

Hmm i think it would be better to 'chain mail' it...I dont think its fair for Jon to use up his bandwidth sending it to multiple people.

The way i see it- Jon puts a CD in the mail with a list, send it to the first person and cross that person off the list, that person gets the CD, copies it to their hard drive, repackages it and sends it to the next person on the list and crosses their name off (ad infinitum)

That way, everybody only pays the same amount for Postage and packaging and should get a copy reasonably quickly.

Thanks for doing this Jon- I realise how hard it must be to fit this into an already busy schedule.

Lets see how big the final file ends up being. I'm open to distribution ideas, but MSN wont be an option as the final size will be in the 100's of MB's.
