Hi everyone

So how much time per week do we put into this hobby of ours here in New Zealand?
This is a question I often ask myself when Im not allowed on my computer cause I "spend to much time infront of that computer" lol
I think it should be interesting.....

Thanks
James

Oops, I voted as soon as I saw the first set of values. I should be in the 15-20 hour group though ;) .

I used to spend heaps of time on the PC, but nowadays am always busy with something else.

No matter what, I try to get at least one good long sim flight per weekend in, and usually many more thought out the week.

Lately, I have been on the comp for just short intervals of time before I have to go off somewhere else so it would be fair to say I have spent more time on these forums discussing flightsim than actually flying in it (which is quite ironic)

Howdy,

If the poll takes into account such "flight sim related" activities as reading/writing in fs forums/lists, et cetera, then nearly 50 hours a week would be normal.

Yup its all fs things like working on addon scenieries or ac etc... or in fs fourms all that stuff!

I realised i didnt say that this is how many hours per week, maby you had figured that out anyway as it would be very difficult to be at your pc for 50 hours a day ,although it may seem like 50 hours lol

Isn't that always the way?

"What are you doing in there now?"
"Just some flightsim stuff dear..."
"Take out the trash when you get done, please."
"Okay dear. As soon as I'm done."

When is "done"? "Lessee, just finished up AI'ing US Airways and United... Now on to Air France..."

I think I'm probably in the 50+ area much to my embarassment. I know I spend way too much time on my sim.
It's always a toss up between things like the lawns or go simming, the lawns are now two feet high! I love rainy days as they give me an excuse to be not finishing all the projects I have half finished around the place! They do make the lawns grow though!
I really thought it would be OK cos I surely would get sick of it. There was some hope for that a wee while ago and then oh no the GNZLAP comes along. I was just getting used to that and then the retro project shows up! Something is always being released by someone and of course you just have to check it out, and that all takes time.
To make matters worse I have my whole system on castors in such a way that allows me to lie in bed while I sim! I often fall asleep and will wake up to find myself way out at sea somewhere, and it becomes fun to see if I can make it back to an airfield without running out of fuel! It is amazing how long planes can keep going for! (I don't tick the unlimited fuel box) You get the right altitude and mixture and throttle setting and prop pitch and test yourslf.
So the island hop to Aussie shouldn't be too hard for me!

Just wondering how much time members spent on flight simulator. Be honest! ;) I spend 1.5 hours a week on average.

Lets see...

* Club nights twice a week, which may be as little as an hour, but often involves lots of sitting around in the hangar chatting.

* A tour flight, again variable, but generally 2 - 4 hours

* Various odds and sods, and tinkerings

So, a fair bit!

About 1-2 for me because all I mostly do is go in take of slew back and land :) In fsx I have 150hours and 500 landings. I sometimes do circuits or much around and fly to close airports like Auckland to ardmore.
