Is there any software I can download hat allows me to press a button (just say Shift + ; ) and enables me to speak into my mic and make an announcement to the passengers, with my voice coming back over the speakers so I can hear myself (Is there any freeware stuff or anyway I can do it via default software that allows me just to talk and hear my voice come back - "Test Hardware" for my microphone wouldn't work as my voice echoes on that)

In your sound options in WinXP, go to Volume Control, Options, Properties, and under the micraphone click 'playback' rather than 'recording' and you will be able top hear yourself.

Try increasing your mic volume - you should be able to hear yourself...

here is a solution:
Take one Vivid Pen
Draw a button on your desk
In flightsim, press this button and make your announcement- You should magically be able to hear yourself

" Ladies and Gentlemen this is your Captain speaking I have a quick announcement to make to myself since there is no one actually on-board we are currently experiencing slight turbulence we will be out of this very soon thank you and please enjoy the flight"

or maybe along the lines of

" Ladies and Gentlemen we are now approaching Wellington could you please return all your virtual seats and trays to there up-right positions the virtual seat belt sign will be switched on in due course so could you please prepare to fasten your virtual seat-belts thank you for flying on my virtual plane and please fly virtually again soon"

Noice! I don't understand why you would want to.. Just my opinion though.. All it would do for me is embarrass me in front of family members..

I think the object of that posting was in relation to a common word aka "sarcasim".

Perhaps you should just Buy FS passengers or use teamspeak and set yourself up with a whisper channel and then you can say what you want, and only you can hear yourself

Use Teamspeak and go to the sound set up page and test your mic - you'll hear yourself through the speakers that way. The challenge is to keep talking when your echo comes back 1 second after you speak. I know I can't do it.

Think that there maybe something wrong with your config as none of the crews I chat with have any delays or echo's unless these is 50 people on at the same time on every channel...

He is talking about the 'Activate Local Test' mode... where all it does it loop back your mic input to your speaker output so you can test to see if your mic is working.

And I agree, those mic config things that require you to read a sentence or two while your voice is looped back with a slight delay really mess with my head. I just cannot do it for more than 2 or 3 seconds!

The only other echo I get is from people who use speakers and mic, rather than headset... and if we speak at the same time, my voice comes out their speakers into their mic and back to me!

Yep, I was talking about the Test Mode. On the IL2 Server a few guys play the sounds through their speakers rather than a headset and its damn annoying hearing yourself through their speakers.

might seem a be upfront but , why do you want to pretend to talk to the passengers
