Hi Guys,
Firstly just so you know I am not a complete novice at the subject I am about to talk about. I have spoken to Steve and he suggests I ask here to see if anyone else has a similar problem.
I have just down loaded the new repaints from Avsim and cannot see any of them in the a/c main menu. Before anyone says it I always change the a/c .cfg so that I can see the repaint has downloaded correctly and is visible, once I see it is then I edit the .cfg and then make them invisible.
For example I downloaded the ZK-OAT,ZK-TAJ fileS, did the usual bits and ..........not a thing.
I have tried everything (within my capacity) but not a bloody thing, also have just tried ZK-STV / LOY and not a thing.
Before I totally blow a fuse it's over to you guys.
Cheers
Nunner

dont know if this really help but this topic was on hovercontol and one thing was something to do with the textures not showing up and cfg see if you can make sence of it

You need to convert the files to DXT3 using DXTbmp (mentioned above) or save the files as indexed BMP files in Photoshop to see the results in FS.  (Save the layered or 24-bit PSD files as well, in case you want to change something).  Right now, FS doesn't recognize the 24-bit bitmap format the files are in, so the repaint appears blank.

and here is the topic but still to be answerd hovercontrol posting link

dont know if this helps at all but i gather from what was said it had some thing to do with them having to be converted to dx not 24 so fs can see them

howdy nunner,

all of steve's aircraft are showing up in my a/c menu, with the exception of zk-ekp and that's because the sim name and model do not match the texture.bmp.

all i can suggest is: are the fltsim numbers consecutive? texture folders named the same as in the .cfg file?

got me stumped.

I always change the a/c .cfg so that I can see the repaint has downloaded correctly

One step at a time, then; it's the .air file you change to make it visible, not the .cfg
You did edit the air file with a suitable editor?

Sorry yes I do change the .air file not the .cfg
I have done all the checks that I know to do and yet for some reason this batch of repaints is driving (flying) me up the wall.
I have checked and re-checked everything and to date not a bloody thing. Just for reference I have been simming since FS98 so I do have quite a bit of know how when it comes to workng with a/c files etc but I just cannot get a handle on this. Maybe I'll take a break today and attack it again tomorrow, getting bored and frustrated with it.
Cheers

You guys thought of looking at the FS9 FAQs?

Reason the Default Dash 8 thats included does not show up on the Aircraft menu and in there is a tip to make it appear.

Of course if this is not what we are refering to then ignore the suggestion.
