Hi there, kiwibarguy here with yet another newbie question. You guys must be getting sick of me smile.gif dry.gif

By the way i would like to thank everybody for there help and support over the last couple of weeks to help me out. It is really appreciated. I have felt welcome from the moment i have joined. A group well worth belonging to. clapping.gif notworthy.gif biggrin.gif

Ok, so i have downloaded the livery/skin for my Cessna and i read the instuctions which i have copied down below.

It says to open the cfg.file but all i can see are these ex: C172_1-C.dds , C172_2_C.dds, C172_Interior_t.dds, C172_1_night_c.dds, C172_2_night_c.dds, C172_T.dds.

There are about 6 of these DDS files, and i am not quite sure what they are?? but also there is no CFG file. Are they the same? What is a CFG file!

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
I'm really confused! unsure.gif unsure.gif unsure.gif sad.gif

Example of instructions below...

ui_variation="ZK-EWA 'Wanganui Aeroclub' G1000"
ui_typerole="Single Engine Prop"
ui_createdby="ARNZ"
description="A stable and trustworthy plane, most pilots have logged at least a few hours in a Cessna 172, since it's the most widely available aircraft in the rental fleet, and is used by most flight schools. Since the first prototype was completed in 1955, more than 35,000 C172s have been produced, making it the world's most popular single-engine plane. One of Cessna's first tricycle-gear airplanes, the 172 quickly became the favorite of a growing class of business pilots. Its reliability and easy handling (along with thoughtful engineering and structural updates) have ensured its continued popularity for decades."

3. Enjoy!

The aircraft.cfg file is not included with the download, it is already installed in FSX. Look here:
Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObject\Airplanes\C172. This is the default Cessna C172.
All you have to do is:
1.) extract the folder called Texture.G1000_EWA into the C172 folder.
2.) in the same folder (C172) open the aircraft.cfg file.
As you scroll through you will see these headings: [fltsim.0] [fltsim.1] [fltsim.2] etc. After the LAST entry (which may be [fltsim.5] on a default system) paste the whole [fltsim.x] entry you've quoted above, and change the 'x' to the next number -- probably '6'. Save the aircraft.cfg file and you should be ready to go.
The way that Jon has done this is a nice, simple method once you get used to it.
