I was looking around the flightsim.com's file library last night (something I haven't done for a long time) and I decided to search for a freedom air 733.

So I typed "Freedom Air" and up pops my zk-ojo :o
Look here

This is a very normal thing but I didn't actually upload it to flightsim.com
I was planning to make an improved version2 and upload it to flightsim.com as I have the not so good one on avsim, but the not so good paint is also on flightsim.com.

A little confused, who uploaded my file?

Thanks
James

Once upon a time Flightsim.com offered a month's free access for each file uploaded -- I don't know if they still do, but now and again any file I put on Avsim would be pounced upon and uploaded to Flightsim, I always assumed to get someone free access.

Yes James, this does happen a lot unfortunately.

I have had quite a few of my files uploaded to sites without my permission. FSPlanet is the worst offender for this, but some of my files have ended up on 5 or 6 sites (that I know of).

I've never been sure why it happens - but your explanation makes sense toprob.
I don't think it's right though, and I make a point of never uploading to sites that 'steal' my files.

Well I would take it as a compliment if they don't alter it and claim it as their own. It seems tho that FSPlanet are downright theives as I understand they actually have the audacity to charge a membership fee so you can download 'freeware' files! This is a real pity because when I joined the FS community and interacted with people through the forums and Teamspeak I still to date have not 'met' anyone I didn't like!
I was thinking 'now here is a great group of people who are really talented and switched on people I can learn from that are really worth knowing.I was and still am amazed how generous FSimmers are with their time and expertise.
So to learn of this file theft and abuse of trust is a real blow to us who really appreciate the hard work that goes in by all you freeware developers. If these A-holes could be traced the answer is simple-BANG!

Cheeky so and so's!

I never use flightsim.com unless the file I want can be found no where else, as I find their menu and logging in system far too complicated compared to the likes of AVsim!

I wouldn't be surprised to see my old DC-3 paintjob turn up there
