If there is someone in the Christchurch area with plenty of experience in Flight simming both programming new hardware and flying a variety of aircraft/software who would be interested in hands on tutoring a newbie to this activity.Willing to pay for this service.Also have large collection of aviation dvds and PC Pilot mags willing to share.Have sub for PC Pilot,so could pass on mags every 2/12.Have RealAir Spitfire software that came with same.Ian.

I'd volunteer, but I'm too far away and I charge $50-00 per hour.

Never thought of having a mentor, thinking of the hundreds of hours I've spent sorting out foul-ups ?

Can I ask what type of stuff you are trying to learn ? there is a learning centre in both sims for newbies and i guess that is where alot of people have started off ,plus here on NZFF you will find nearly every subject covered or one of us would know ...
just remember just like you have in this post you just ask and someone will give you the answer no matter how small or silly you think it may be just post here in the forums ..

Welcome! I'm w-a-a-y up in Auckland so no use! However - I'm a relative newbie to NZFF myself and can only add that you probably won't need a mentor if you use this forum frequently. The natives here are very friendly - and *immensely* knowledgeable. Quite a few NZFF members work in the aviation industry itself - and others regularly contribute to the FS community with either payware or freeware. Just *ask*

Many thanks for the enthusiastic support.In response to Mike:Initially I want to set up my hardware(CH yoke,pedals and quadrant)assign commands to levers and switches so that I could fly both jet and turboprop aircraft.My problem is that I am a technophobe(very limited computer and IT skills that many in these forums take for granted)so have prblems with anything more than the most basic compuer tasks.Only strengths;have had a PPL in the last century.Yes I am an older person but not yet 60.Am using FSX and have just secured the hefty tome?,MS Flight Simulator X for Pilots Real World Training.So if thereis anyone out there in CHCH who can provide 'hands on'assistance,I would greatly appreciate it and you would be handsomely rewarded for your efforts.Regards all aviation 'nuts',Ian.
