Hi guys,

As you'll probably know i'm looking for a new computer for FS9. I have this one in sight at the moment and all i need to do is make sure it will run FS9 with no problems. Will it run FS9 with high performance and high FPS if my sim has mostly max stettings, anti-aliasing, alot of add-ons etc?

Yeah, the graphics card isnt the best. And neither is the price for what your getting, but its pretty good none the less. Should run it okay

Edit: But dont push it. You dont even need to run max max max settings, as it doesnt even look better and just chews preformance...

That is faster than my computer and I run FSX without too much problem....so if FSX runs as bad as some say it does, then FS9 should fly on that

Don't buy until you hear if it really is overclocked to 4.8GHz!
If yes, walk away.
In any case I'd be hesitant because you'd want a better video card, which would overwhelm that PSU.
Look for 500W minimum.

Not sure what you'd not max out in FS9 - it needs every little bit it can deliver. Especially ground shadowing.

Okay thanks for the advice Charl. How do i check if it is overclocked to 4.8GHz? And what do you mean a better graphics card would overwhelm the PSU?

Not a bad machine to run FS on. One thing I would suggest is that you put a bigger hard drive in. That way you dont run out of space for all your aircraft and scenery.

Probably too late now, but you could just've asked - the CPU was described as "4.8GHz", may have been a typo.
As to the PSU, don't skimp, it would be penny wise. You will have endless problems which you won't be able to identify easily (Especially CTD and general instability).
That, and decent cooling.
As a guide, here's a very well-balanced FS computer I specced almost 2 years ago, and it runs FS9 like a dream.
You might skimp on things like video card which can be later upgraded, but not on stuff like mobo and PSU which can't.

I've not overclocked my system for years. To be honest - the frequency of crashes never justified the [often marginal] increase in performance. FS9/FSX are such resource hogs anyway (and crash often enough on their own) that I hate to introduce yet another cause of CTDs to the mix.

I looked at the TM specs. Is 350W just for the motherboard usual? That's SIX 60W light bulbs going *all the time* ... and there's all your other power requirements to go on top of that <???>. You certainly won't need to heat your house next winter!

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz CPU Speed: 4.8 GHz. This is a typical mistake that many people make because it says 2 core 2.4Ghz they think that it is double the 2.4Ghz speed but in actual fact it is 2 cores both working a 2.4Ghz so your actual CPU speed is only 2.4Ghz.

That's so annoying.

Runs FSX with add-ons full (custom) AI, display settings almost full, 8xAA, 16xAF, gets anywhere from 20 - ~ FPS

I'm very happy with it so far.

...and here's one from 5 years ago, that also does the FS9 job pretty nicely.
I know because I hooked it up to a 40" HD TV set for fun, and it looks marvellous.
(It had a midlife video upgrade.)

That sort of computer would run FSX no probs so it is probably a good spec level in order to judge both versions of the sim: FS9 at max settings or FSX a mid settings (remembering that the sliders arent really comparable between the two. I.e. Max Autogen slider in FS9 = low Autogen Slider in FSX, Max terrain slider in FS9 (20m with tweak) = mid slider in FSX)
