That video shows why I've been obsessed with southern lakes flying since FS2002 -- now we have something which actually does the area justice. When he lands lake-side, and looks towards the water, it is as real as I could hope for. I am endlessly fascinated by the grass, I remember saying in a post here a long time ago that since NZ is about 60% grass by weight, we would never see an accurate representation, but now we have grass everywhere:)
I've done lots of flights like this recently, I can spend an hour exploring around a single lake. This week it's been Wanaka, and the weather hasn't been as nice as in this video, but that's another thing -- with previous sims, you really need to set things up first, load a weather system, and if you want to use real weather, it's always a bit of a lottery how it actually looks. Basically, there are some nice combos, and you are lucky if you strike one. In MFS, I've been flying is blah weather, overcast and clouds in the valleys, but this is just as real, good-looking -- and even more immersive -- than finding the ideal combo in any other sim.
People are gonna love this. Maybe not everyone at the beginning, but that's flightsim for you. I've been through enough new releases to know that we can expect a lot of hysteria over the coming weeks. This'll be fun!
