2021 10 16 MSFS night flight over Auckland in JF Arrow IV
I don't do night flying, I can't fly from outside the plane, and I'm not sold on flying with live weather. So since it was such a lovely day and evening here in Auckland, obviously I jumped into the JF Piper Arrow IV for the first time in months (first time ever in the dark) and took off from NZNE North Shore around midnight on 16 Oct 2021, live time and live weather, to fly across Auckland from the outside view. I loaded in on the runway ready to go, did my usual quick start things during which I managed to turn most of the important lights off, and away we went.
The route is fairly simple - head down the shore, somewhere near Mairangi Bay turn right past RNZAF Whenuapai, over Westgate where the 2 motorways join, past Lincoln Rd (the really bright one leading away from the motorway), then over the Rosebank peninsular industrial area and down to the city. My usual exit past the Museum then follow the Southern Motorway down to Manukau, stumble around in the dark for a few minutes, then find NZAR Ardmore and smack it down just in time for some dick in a ute to pull out onto the runway in front of me. I guess not giving the ground vehicles collision boxes was easier than teaching them not to pull out in front of aeroplanes ...
Clear Prop!
