Thats what it is all about isnt it rolleyes.gif i generally make them for myself ,i must watch them 20 odd times to see what i could of done to make them better ,
i look up to guys like spice1 and flyhalf ,they are the kings at this stuff ,ill always aim for there perfection they must spend days weeks months on making them ,me i spend 5hrs start to finshed about 20min editing and one hours worth of coffees drool.gif 3hours of recorder flight ,30min to a hour capturing the shots ..
The big thing with this movie is that i have been trying to record formation or any helo with the recorder or anything for years ,with no luck dry.gif
but i stuck at it ,trying /asking around and wham ..someone put me on to something and here we are hueys in formations "well close" rolleyes.gif
most of my early vids have been cr@p but learning all the same you can find them at hovercontrol.com /videos /user name natas2003 now thats where i started now look how im doing
not to bad if i do say so myself unsure.gif pirate.gif
let the vids roll punk.gif

Not sure if you if you came to the last Whenuapai air show, but the first Apatche formation reminds me very much of the Navy Seasprite demo they did:

Great vid once again, chopper's arn't really my thing but I really enjoyed watching! thumbup1.gif

thanks and yeah ive been watching them on youtube getting to know some formation tricks ,i can tell you now this is no easy task ,if i get it wrong its a big hassle starting / stopping the recorder all up again , in this vid i was just having a tests run to see if it would work and is just one long recording with fraps ,no trick editing ..at the end of the flying backwards part they spinned out rolleyes.gif
oh and ive been testing out doing loops in the choppers and there is no way that it looks good when trying to film them ,the recorder module just doesnt like that part ,but everything else seems to do what it is suppose to do ..

Late comment: very nice Mike, dunno why I've never tried chopper formations, but you've inspired me with this offering.
Great bit of flying, guys you should try this yourselves to appreciate what the man did there.
Well done.

yeah thanks charl you will need to know this before you start then ,as the recorder doesnt like helicopter you have to trick it as AI so ill point you guys in the right direction before you have fs crashes first of all get 1.3 or higher of fs recorder module found at http://www.fs-recorder.net/ also go to the forums there and in the general discussion forum you will find a pinned topic called {HOW TO play helicopters as AI traffic} you will aslo need a file called renameit found in the tutorial ,
if you have the skills to edit the cfg in note pad and the will to learn something new ,go for it
all the above info is a must do before you even try this ...
looking forward to seeing what you guys can come up with winkyy.gif

and ill also add this info posted to me at hovercontrol .
You can make your own ai helicopters to work with recorder module, and it's much easier than making them to work as 'normal' ai.

1) Make a new aircraft container (folder). Give it the same name as the original helicopter, but with '_AI' stuck on the end of it (or anything to make it a unique name).

2) Copy everything but the air and cfg files from the original aircraft into it, and the air and cfg from the King Air.

3) Rename the new air file to whatever the original aircraft's is called

4) Copy the following sections from the original aircraft's cfg and replace those in the new (ex King Air) cfg:

All fltsim sections
contact_points
lights
smokesystem

5) In each fltsim section add '_AI' (or again, anything to make it unique) to the end of the title line and ui-variation line.

6) If you have aired.exe, you can stop them cluttering up your aircraft selection menu by changing 'aircraft type' (line 105) to '2'. If not, you can change the ui_manufacturer line in each fltsim section to something like RMAI to keep them seperate.

7) After recording your flight use renameit (from the RM site) to change the name of the aircraft used to playback (add _AI, or whatever, to the current one shown) and save the flight with a new name.

8) Formate on your custom AI helicopter and shoot some footage for us rotorheads.

These modifications won't work as normal AI, because the weights and power need fine tuning for them to 'fly', but RM aircraft only follow pre-recorded positional data.

Well now I certainly know why I've never tried chopper formations!
And more credit to you for going for it!

yeah bit of a mission but i cant tell you it is worth the hassles for me ,ive been trying to do this or something close for years ,,ive wanted a display team or something and knowbody can handle the pace with me ... tongue.gif when it comes to formation who better to do it than the other side of me laugh.gif i mean 8 of me what a scary thought

ive found now ive done the making of AI model with changing the cfg stuff etc.. it is really quick now to do biggrin.gif
