If you are home for the holiday weekend and need something to do, read on :)

Sunday Night Ops for 23rd March 2008 - Cricket Tour Week 4: NZAA <--> NZNR

QUOTE
During March we'll be following the Black Caps and England around New Zealand as they play out the upcoming Test Cricket series. There are the two teams and their entourages, media people, the fans, and a ton of kit and equipment that needs to be moved from one match to the next. In the process we'll get to visit some of VATNZ's less-frequently-used regional airports[/quote]

This Week: Napier to Auckland (200nm / sector)
It's only day two of the third test, but someone's screwed up the teams' travel plans and we're descending on Napier to transport teams and supporters back to Auckland for their connecting flights home in this, the fourth and final leg of our cricket tour.

Because this is another short leg we're encouraging people to fly a return trip between Auckland and Napier during the event.

This will keep things nice and hectic for controllers and pilots with two streams of traffic heading in opposite directions. Total time for the return trip should be somewhere in the vicinity of 2.5 hours - probably less for those of you burning past me in your jets.

Air NZ mainly fly the Dash 8 and ATR72 on this route so this is a great opportunity to pull those smaller aircraft out of the hangar, but feel free to bring whatever you feel you can land safely at Napier!

I might not be there this weekend. I have guests coming over and with an overdose of aviation the day before, I might need to give my lovely wife some attention :)
