Hey NZFF
The FSX multiplayer is far superior to FS2004, once you get it going. The only real way to do it is Gamespy though, my friend Ben and I tried Hamachi (it simulates LANs over the net) but we were unsuccessful. Anyway, someone set up a Wellington server and we flew on that. We got half way across cook strait and ben had to go to bed. Anyway, after that a random dude called aafif_41 joined the server INSIDE my Cessna, and we flew it together. We turned around and flew into Wellington intl. We didnt know how to talk to tower (there WAS one present), so I told him to squawk 7600 (because we had no comms with the tower), but from then on he couldnt control the aircraft properly. Seconds after that, the server went offline, so I never got to land.

What I'm trying to say (I'm very tired as I write this) is that FSX has the capability to be a REALLY good mulitplayer game, but it has flaws (connections etc). I'd really like to explore the shared cockpit more, so if anyones interested, get my msn address by PMing me and we'll find a time to play.

the game spy certainly has alot of bugs and problems, for example the lobby chat box is for ever flashing cos it will say "(player name) left" or "(player name) enterd". And how to change aircraft if your hosting the whole session exits, and many options are faded out during online flying, LIke you can't even change your aircraft!

I very much enjoyed haveing some shared cockpit flying with you monkeybdg, its just so neat to land and then hit the transfere button and I can go threw the landing checks with out haveing to taxi the aircraft :P and haveing the ils set for me already by my good FO hehe

Hehe, it was a good flight there. We started out with a circuit at Nelson each in the C172, then we jumped into the CRJ from Nelson to WN. I did takeoff and cruise, Jimmy did the approach and landing. Then we jumped in a Maule and went to Paraparaumu. Jimmy did the takeoff and climb, I did the rest. His takeoff... well it was sorta all opver the place. My landing was a class above though, eh James.

This shared cockpit concept sounds like a lot of fun!

I would be interested to know how you can choose between which of the two co-pilots has the controls?

Mike and i did a few. the pilot ( host of the mulitplayer session ) has 100% control and the co-pilot, has limited control

Not quite Craig, both pilots can operate the systems and switches etc, the person with control also can control the axis of movement. To switch who has control,, you press SHIFT + T
