NZFF

Some of you may have noticed that the msn gaming zone has closed down the FS2004 room, and all there other cd games too.
I was thinking maby we should have a fs multiplayer session sometime for the NZFF members.

Is this a good idea ,would it be bettter if someone on a fast connection could host, and is anyone able to set up a Teamspeak server?

I used to run a FS Host server and Teamspeak on an old win98 box , it handled it fine. After a few semi-successful fly-ins and get togethers I gave it up as it wasn't really being used.

I now fly on Vatsim or IVAO (I prefer Vatsim but are doing the NZ IFR tour on IVAO at the moment). Try Vatsim Jimmy, there's plenty of NZ pilots and ATC most nights. It's nowhere near as scary as it used to be, very newbie friendly, lol. I have asked my fair share of dumb questions and received help and support.

Let me know if you want support to connect to Vatsim, I'd be happy to do a tutorial.

I'm on 56k so I don't go online flying much, but whenever I do, I used the www.fsimcafe.com server.

It does not require "msn gaming zone", in fact I have never used that once. All you need to do is type in thier IP into the Multiplayer box '67.18.56.106-82' and click fly!

They even have a dedicated teamspeak server. Open TS, click "quick connect" and enter the fsimcafe server IP again.

It couldn't be easier, and there are lots of kiwis online too

I was thinking of joning vatsim. I downoaded all the stuff that I apparently needed to read I'm still getting threw reading all those .pdf files lol
I downloaded squawkbox 3(thats what its called ae).

Are there many controllers in the australie and new zealand aera, I rearly fly out of NZ and aus because everywere else is just to detailed even with all the sliders pulled back, Iv never actuly flowen to KLAX lol Theres just to mush detail and it kills my frames. i'm scerd ill crash if im on vatsim, not that I ever do out of "pilot error" but if my pc sudenly does its "3fps on short final" thing theres nothing I can do to get a aircraft on the ground when my sims like that.
Like i strugle to get good frames with nothing else running, so what would the vatsim software do to performance.
And it can be hard for me to find a time were I can be connected to the net for a hole fligt ,I don't want to have to sudenly dissconect becoause someone needs to mae that "urgent " phone call.

I mite be getting a realy cheap x-lease p4 2.4ghz 504mb ram p.c soon so I think ill join vatsim then. Or else ill just try it on my 1ghz system lol

No need to do any research Jimmy!! I find my PC runs better online than with AI traffic. The Squawkbox models you see (other planes) are low polygon models so it has negligible effect.

IVAO has a better plane visual model but they do not have all planes, or many NZ airlines (ie no RNZAF models, no Beech 1900 ANZ, or Saab340's). As the plane detail is higher it impacts more. As you only see other planes up close when at the airport (or hope to!) it's not an issue for me.

I have done a tutorial. It's pretty image-intensive (about 30 pics, avg of about 40 kb each).

Thanks Trolly, I did have a heap more screenshots online but needed to get them off my pay web host and onto Photobucket as they were taking up too much space. I'll look at doing more on the gallery.


I received your PM about Norfolk Island. I forgot I had that web page up there, and the linked web page is no longer available. The actual file is still there though, so you could try the zip file direct from http://www.virtualvfr.com/tassim/au_lc.zip that has an updated Norfolk bgl in it to get rid of the water surrounding the runway...

Every time I dissconnect then reconnect from the internet my ip address changes?
So I can't post it here for so you all know what to connect to because itll be different. Is this write? Will I just have to post it here before when I connect on saturday?

Any way for our mutiplayer game can everyone set their "loch frame rate" slider at 22 and disable collisions with other aircraft.

Please load up at NZCH or NZWG and as us and as usaul remember to not start on a active runway.

Please say if you will be connecting so I know if its worth the bother because its not much fun if its just me and trolly.

And could someone set up a ts server whie were flying?

Nice clip there Charl. I do love the charm and particularly the sound of the Beech 18. Another favourite is the Connie L049. I like to fly planes that you can almost smell the oil and feel the engines shuddering the whole plane when you're flying them.

I also did a Beech18 video (on Google) but the end quality that displays is not a true representation of what it actually turned out as.

Yes thats 1600 local time lol jimmy gets mixed up with is times sometimes, when im not realy thinking. I have a panel wich always has anyhting like 1600 as 0400 It htort thats how its ment to written hmm never mind.

Ill be posting the ip address in this thread 10 minutes before startining time (4 pm)

I hope to see many of you come , ill make it the maximum capacity (16)
