thanks

I can tell you the requirements in bandwidth for a server on IVAO, they are probably very similar to those for VATSIM, however I don't really know how much the usage is per user, its not much, I do quite a bit of online activity on IVAO and a fair bit of browsing, viewing videos etc and have only gone over my cap (6Gb) once, usually using around 4Gb per month.
The server requirement average in total is 45Gb per month, this is network and voice, with the required bandwidth ranging from 30-60GB per month.
Voice uses relatively little bandwidth compared to network, usually its (voice) around a fifth of the bandwidth the network side of things uses.
Hope this helps,
Alex

I've never taken much notice to be honest. It uses very little bandwidth and I have never noticed my usage jump after a long session of online flying.
It operates differently to standard FS multiplayer that sends data to all participants all the time. Vatsim is only concerned with what's in the immediate vicinity.

Yeah, VATSIM and IVAO won't break the online usage bank.

One thing to consider ... Users can fly and use voice quite comfortably on 56k with both Vatsim and IVAO, so it can't use much data!

Yep, voice usually uses between 9 and 20 kilobits (8 bits in a byte) depending on how the software is configured.
