VFR US West Coast Tour Leg 2 - Sunday 23 November 2025 at 7.30pm
Posted: Mon Nov 17, 2025 7:01 pmJoin us for an evening of sim-flying adventure on Sunday 23 November, departing at 7:30 PM NZDT in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.
USA Leg 2 Route: Santa Monica to Lone Pine
We’ll depart from Santa Monica Municipal (KSMO) and fly northward, landing at a variety of interesting airports — including military bases, because we can in MSFS!
Planned stops:
- Agua Dulce (L70)
- Edwards Air Force Base (KEDW) - plenty of room to land
- Tehachapi Municipal (KTSP) - home to a huge windfarm, and solar panels
- Kern Valley (L05) - home to the Lake Isabella Dam
- Final destination : Lone Pine (O26) - location shoot for some famous western movies
Full-stop landings at most sites. Total flight time: under 90 minutes.
Flight Details
- Simulator: Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020
- Server: US West (let's ramp up the traffic again!!)
- Time Set: 12:00 PM (NZT)
- Weather: Optional, it's California - it's always blue skies.
- Aircraft: Single-engine plane able to cruise at 176 knots - Bonanza, Baron, Seneca, etc
