I hardly ever fly with IVAO anymore but I love checking these threads to see the creative event propotion images. Top marks to whoever designs them

Nice idea guys, the timing is a bit bizarre though. I mean, if you have it in the evening you have a chance of getting more NZ pilots coming into it, but as it is, it's particularly unattractive (or at least to me...). Maybe you could pass my comment onto Andrew/Jorge?

Thanks for advertising it though. I'd be happy to come along to an evening session if I was free. :)

That would be Andrew Petrie, our events co-ordinator :D

Alex - sure thing I will pass your comments on, and will bring it up at our next staff meeting :)

The thing is as you will know, we have tried events in the evening NZ time, and that attracts nothing. Take for instance the Wellington-Melbourne flight a few months back. We held that in the evening, and a grand total of 3 pilots showed up, of which only 2 were from NZ. Last month we held what could be called a 'trial' event at NZDN, which was held in the NZ morning. I don't know how many pilots turned up, but ATC was online for around 4 hours, and there was a lot of traffic, and probably about 4-5 were NZ guys (which is pretty good going in the scheme of things...).

There was a discussion going on about this amongst the controllers at the last event, and the general consensus was that the people providing ATC would much rather get up at say 8/9am and control 20 pilots, than spend 3/4 hours in the evening controlling only 2-3 pilots in that whole time.

I'm thinking that now we are UTC+12 again, starting our morning events at 21z (9am local), and going until midday may be better. I know it's only an hour difference, but more people will be up at 9 than at 8.

True, I'm not up with the play on recent happenings at IVAO. I just know that I'd personally rather fly and control in the afternoon/evening, of course my voice alone would probably not change things, but I feel that other people might think like me. ;)

Anyway, ultimately it's up to you guys how you want to work this out. I remember that these events worked reasonably well in the past (6+ months ago), and we started a wee following as we moved around the place.
