Ground Lighting - Night

Hi Robin

I wonder if you are able to help with night lighting textures, as I seem to lose my streetlights etc whenever I activate NZ scenery. It's ok in other parts of the World with addon scenery.

I am using topo, 20m mesh and Real NZ Tauranga. The Wellington scenery is the Wellington area photoreal scenery by you which I got off AVSim.

I hope these pics (clickable thumbnails) illustrate the problem!

Tauranga During the day from above is awesome

At night, sitting on the runway, you can see building lights

Night-time aerial views are very dark, only the runway and terminal are lit up

Wellington during the day is also lovely

As in Tauranga's case, at night you can see building lighting

From the air though it's a black-out

If I deactivate the add on scenery from the air is rather standard, I dunno where the black box came from though ...

But with standard scenery at night we have lights!

Hi Matt , I believe problem is in the scenery , I asked Robin to place a photo area in for (NZWN) Welly ( 3yrs back) , but this come with no night textures , Superb job , for day .. but no nighty or limited scope within model , time and other considerations .
Robins RealNZ's next project REALWellington soon to be releasesd will have all the missing stuff and a lot more , its Brilliant in texture and guessin going to be a must for your scenery Collection .

Thanks for that Ian. I can stop now potentially mucking up the sim trying to find the answer!

I wonder if there will be an update for RealNZ Tauranga?

As Ian pointed out, the freeware Wellington doesn't have night textures. 'Real NZ Wellington' will, though.
The download version of Tauranga also doesn't have night textures. The idea was to keep the file size down to under 30MB. Night textures double the size without adding double the value:) The CD version does have night textures though.

Edit: actually, adding night textures increases the file size by 500%, as I need to add all seasonal variations when I add night textures. Since I only have one aerial photo, all the seasonal variations are the same, so the installer can compress them well, but the download file size is still far too big.
Rotorua is a smaller area, and worked out about the same size as Tauranga with the night textures, so they were included.
Talk to me about a $20 upgrade to the CD version.

OK Robin thanks for clarifying that mate. I can't justify $20 for some lights in TG at night at the moment (I'll just lookout my window lol), and can just disable the scenery if flying into the area at night (as I wont see the land texs anyway).

Cheers
